spacekid wrote:100% agree with Cleese. Although this doesn't only exist in London. Just look at any major city in this country - Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham etc. There are more people from other cultures/countries living in these cities than actual homegrown british people...... now i'm not popping off about all these different cultures but it's getting a little out of control and its not our fault but its the immigration laws of this country. We should never have joined the EU in my opinion. Thats basically said to all the smaller more deprived communities in Europe that they can come to our country and we will have open arms and a new life for them. They've realised this and taken advantage of it hence the over-run of all the other cultures. Lets face it its primarily people with little money looking for work coming to this country and moving to the big cities (because its where the money is) ... it's not multi-millionaires moving to this country. My opinion, our immigration laws should be like Australia's. If you have nothing to offer/provide this country - jog on.
Read a review that there are more British people moving to the country and out of the cities and last year just under a million british people emigrated .... their main motivation .... overcrowding. Now I can believe that.
On a totally different side note - This got me thinking about our police force in this country. Were the only country where our law/police force aren't really feared. Think about it ... you see some drunk louts fighting in the street and (if by luck) there was police there ..... the would still continue to FIGHT!! I mean in any other country like america for instance ... you see the police and fook me your on your toes. Or russia ... if you sneezed in the direction of a russian officer ... you'd get the beat down of your life. The police force over here have NO respect. Seriously twisted and failed government in this country. Probably why all these brits are emigrating each year.
I'm 100% british born btw.
"Hurr durr they took our jobs!"
EDIT: On the police note, here in America we get the adverse effect of EVERYONE being AFRAID of the police, not just criminals. If you think that's a good thing....
spacekid i'll make this quick - life is too short. let's break down what you wrote into 3 areas, and what you're really saying.
1. 'they' = anyone not white
'
"they've realised this and taken advantage
they can come to our country
the over-run of all the other cultures.
its primarily people with little money looking for work coming to this country"
2. 'i'm not racist, but...' = i am a raving racist
"now i'm not popping off about all these different cultures but...
it's getting a little out of control
its the immigration laws of this country
We should never have joined the EU
If you have nothing to offer/provide this country - jog on."
3. british = white person
"There are more people from other cultures/countries living in these cities than actual homegrown british people
more British people moving to the country and out of the cities
just under a million british people emigrated .... their main motivation .... overcrowding
I'm 100% british born btw."

are you fucking for real
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
Not at all. To be honest ... If a person can apply for a job with no UK qualifications/doesn't speak the language and still gets the job over you ..... your sh*t!
This wasn't meant to spark angry debate I was merely agreeing with what Cleese has said. I believe there's a ring of truth in his statement. Props to him for saying what was on his mind and speaking his thoughts.

nah i wasn't lol
it was just a pop at Spacekid and his big ups for Cleese just for speaking his mind...
Even if it was a pop at me .... you were pretty much comparing the two.
Besides ... whats wrong with speaking your mind? Does society nowadays expect you to just sit there and keep your mouth shut.... I'll answer my own question actually with a Yes. Sadly people who speak their mind are jumped upon (just like Cleese) so people think twice about actioning any thoughts or speaking out. Which is probably why nothing gets done in this country ... people can't be asked to deal with the backlash that awaits them for speaking up.
On the Hitler note .... Please dont ever compare him to someone who was speaking their mind. He wasn't, he was a sick sadistic psychotic individual with serious mental issues and ruled with fear not reasoning.

London has never been an "English" city. It has a phenomenally powerful Mayor and City Government compared to any other city for very good reason - it has always been an enclave for trade, commerce and the melting together of culture.
Cleese is correct, but he could have said the same thing at any time during the last 1500 years. It's not a bad or good thing, it's just how London works.
Surprised the conversation lasted this long.

no, i would love people with your views to promote them as openly as possible, its only then do i know who to avoid on account of them being close-minded, simpletons

like you suggested our Police force do??
and seriously, i didn't compare Cleese to Hitler... i made a joke about you liking Mein Kampff because Hitler 'spoke his mind'

the conversation lasted this long because there's deeper issues than the demographic of the city of london, and these are being expressed and discussed, despite what Cleese says
What many people dont get is that london has been multi cultural for the last 2000 years almost. England has always been a mixture of different races and cultures for thousands of years.
I know there is a lot of posts here and I'm not trying to single out one guy but I hear this kind of ill-informed shit all the time
spacekid wrote: Sadly people who speak their mind are jumped upon (just like Cleese) so people think twice about actioning any thoughts or speaking out
what is being intimated here is that one person should be allowed to speak their mind but no one else should be allowed to speak their minds in response
advocating censorship whilst deriding the same concept in the same sentence
what a ridiculous point to make
