I was just sayin I don't like ableton stock presets (apart from operator) and I find myself working better with certain plugins and saving alot of time. Never said its impossible to make good music out of them though.

since live 8, operator has had additive synthesis. you can edit the waveform by adding and subtracting partials.

so, you're saying, if you're only using one wave - and not utilizing frequency modulation, it's not FM? that's profound, and by that, i mean obvious.

^ operator is FM, traditional virtual analog/subtractive and additive. you can use it like a DX7 esque FM synth using the routing tables. you can turn off routing, use the traditional available waveforms and the filter like a traditional VA subtractive synth and now since live 8, each of the four oscillators allow you to edit the available waveforms through editing their partials.

and maybe what I was trying to say above is obvious, but I was mainly trying to clear up that operator is more than just an FM synth and can be used as an additive synth as well contrary to what some folk are saying on here.
