this again is one of the typical dubstepforum discussions. somebody starts getting a bit too critical and get's bashed completely by dozen of forum heads. and not in a intellectual way, of pointing out flaws in his argument but mainly by saying he's shit, should stfu, etc.
come on, chef, and all the other guys, have you ever heard of discussion/argumentation and manners? this is a forum and not a playground.
saying stuff like chef: "Constructive criticism's all good....
But when someone's chatting shit, they're shit."
i might chat shit too, but saying i'm shit because you think my current thoughts are shit just doesn't make sense, dude. that's like saying "coki's spongebob is shit, so he must be a shit producer", now that is just plain false and in fact quite naive argumentation.
it gets so tiresome that the level of discussion is always taken to insults and harsh statements. where's the chilled and considerate discussion at?
this happens with almost every thread about a certain big tune or esp. coki (ruff luvin anyone?).
people have SERIOUS issues with negative criticism on this board!
people have a problem with other people thinking about the music a lot more and complex than "BIG!" "huge tune" "braap" or maybe "large!".
slothrop makes a good point. discuss things. (and insult do not count as discussion, they're just insults which tend to end the discussion or at least mess up the last bit of intellectual discussion).
i think we can all agree on coki being are very interesting producer and quite skilled. making heavy tunes for years...
it should also be understandable that he seems to be very repetitive, which is perfectly fine as long as something happens and the tunes develop in whatever direction they do.

I wasn't gonna bump this thread but since it's here already...

Didn't notice at the time, but someone who's willing to go up to Benny Ill and tell him what is and is not dubstep really doesn't get punched in the face often enough... it's like having Antonio Carluccio cook you lunch and then complaining at him that it's not proper italian food cos it's not like the takeaway pizza you got from your local chippy last week.THA ILLSTA wrote: DJ's such as myself who try to educate the crowd with alternative shizz e.t.c have to put up with a load of crap from the crowd, people sayin' what's this ? when are you going to play some dubstep e.t.c.

Yep, and rightly so.dubwise_gamgee wrote: people have SERIOUS issues with negative criticism on this board!
That shizz never did anyone any good.
Constructive criticism, as CHEF rightly mentioned, should be welcomed.
i.e. if you don't like it WHAT do you think could be done to IMPROVE it or suggestions for DIRECTIONAL CHANGE..
And P.S. We are not all intellectuals here so read between tha lines of STFU comments e.t.c
It's quicker than reading 60 lines of negativism.
The needs of the many...outweigh...the needs of the few

Numerous flaws were pointed out in an ''intellectual way''dubwise_gamgee wrote:this again is one of the typical dubstepforum discussions. somebody starts getting a bit too critical and get's bashed completely by dozen of forum heads. and not in a intellectual way, of pointing out flaws in his argument but mainly by saying he's shit, should stfu, etc.
**Read below for the rest of my reply about your above text

Actually I did once hear about ''discussion/argumentation'' and from that rare once in a lifetime opportunity I did come to the conclusion that with a thing discussion everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but just because you have an opinion it doesn't mean it's a correct statement or argument. In an argument you should expect to be challenged if people don't agree or your just plain wrong and expect to receive harsh comments back especially if content in your original statement/s were/are harsh.
p.s
Sorry I really thought this was a playground and that I played the bully.
**For the record I didn't mean that he as a person is shit, what I meant to type was that when someone's chatting shit, they're chatting shit, simple as, (genuine typing error on my behalf) which is the same as saying when your wrong...... your wrong, but in a slightly different context.dubwise_gamgee wrote:

I don't expect everyone, or should I say every Dubstepper to like Roadrage, that is perfectly natural and this tune is defiantly more of an acquired taste anyway.
I don't have an issue with criticism and people saying they don't like a tune ''It's not my style, it's not my thing, not feeling it at all'' etc and having your reasons, but I do have an issue with people coming out with wild assumptions and just jumping to conclusions about people they don't know and are totally wrong about.
i.e ''playing it safe, feeding the dancefloor''.
Once again it's down to the DJ's playing what they want on the dancefloor and label managers choosing what tracks they wanna sign,
When Coki gives you a cd is isn't just full of ''dancefloor bangers'' but i'm sure most of the tracks would go down with a bang on most dubstep and some other music genre dancefloors around the world.

Ok, I've only read the first half of this long-ass thread but for situations like this I like to deal with it this way, short and simple.
If someone's producing a tune that you're not feeling, don't buy it. And if a DJ is playing a tune that you're not into, don't dance to it or leave the room. Let the market/dancefloor speak for itself.
Have a discussion and argue about it if you want, but it's not solving anything but getting people pissed off at each other. As for me, I've just saved all that time and can now be doing something more useful.
