I know you are missing the point here and that's fine, but how you can end up thinking that it wasn't about a sentiment and that it was needed for someone else to come and correct it, is beyond baffling. Do you actually assume anyone in the world could think as unrealistic as that? Because they could'nt. No offence.hubb wrote:

If you get something out of it, then fair enough. But 'just because' isn't a productive reason, IMO.ehbrums1 wrote:Why not perform to the best of your ability?wub wrote:But if it's working for you and you're not going to get anything extra out of working harder, why do it? What do you get out of it, if you raise your grades?
Re: Goals for 2014
Satisfaction in setting goal, working hard towards it and achieving it. School/ Uni work for me isn't really that hard, it's more a test of will

Does any one else not just feel like continuing to do what they are already doing because it seems to work out fine? Maybe im just lazy lol

There is nothing you want to do in the next 12months whatsoever that you're not already doing?Sinestepper wrote:Does any one else not just feel like continuing to do what they are already doing because it seems to work out fine? Maybe im just lazy lol
Re: Goals for 2014
My motivation to work harder to pretty much directly correlated to the difficulty of the course. The harder it is the more apt I am to really get involved and work hard. It's finding motivation for the easy ones that gets me and I end up settling for B'swub wrote:So what can you do to increase your willpower/motivation to perform better?ehbrums1 wrote:Satisfaction in setting goal, working hard towards it and achieving it. Re: Goals for 2014
I dunno, ill probably get more done if i dont force myself music wise. I often find the best ideas come to me when im sitting on the couch rotting in front of the telly. Im pretty sure im doing the best i can at uni too. I think maybe spending less money, wont happen tho too many nights to go to.wub wrote:There is nothing you want to do in the next 12months whatsoever that you're not already doing?Sinestepper wrote:Does any one else not just feel like continuing to do what they are already doing because it seems to work out fine? Get a first in my degree then either get a part time job and do a masters part time or get a job, save up for a year then go back and do a masters.
Either try go Outlook/Dimensions or get a new mixer.
Read Das Kapital - monster of a book.
Finally start trying to produce.. Its been about 3 years since I brought a midi keyboard and I've not even opened a program up. Brought a Mac + Logic to try motivate me to use it but uni has taken up too much of my time atm. Hopefully gunna play around with it in the next 2 weeks. I did spend the last year year jotting down ideas so I've got a place to start, I just need to get familiar with Logic.

I don't really do regrets like but I'd caution against taking a year off earning money and going back to do the masters if you really want the masters or you think the masters will be important to your career.Muncey wrote:Get a first in my degree then either get a part time job and do a masters part time or get a job, save up for a year then go back and do a masters.

Good luck with Das Kapital.
Another goal is getting on the masters I want. (20 years after deferring for a year while I earned some money.)

Don't let the Anti-Marxists who seek flaws in his every word put you off, once you get beyond the beginning which is kind of simplistic in economic terms but deals with labour fundamentals, there are some really interesting ideas in there.scspkr99 wrote:Muncey wrote:Get a first in my degree then either get a part time job and do a masters part time or get a job, save up for a year then go back and do a masters.

Marx's work predates zionism which is crazy on both fronts. The world is new.

Haha thanks, literally the only reason I'd take a year off is because my local uni doesn't do economics masters and I want to stay in Manchester so I'd need to take a year off to get the funds together. Theres no way I could pay the 3+ grand a year as well as living expenses.. I struggle with student finance helping me lol.scspkr99 wrote:I don't really do regrets like but I'd caution against taking a year off earning money and going back to do the masters if you really want the masters or you think the masters will be important to your career.

Heard a lot of people say that and thats what got me interested in reading it. One of my lecturers is a Marxist lol.. Steve Keen is an Economist I find interesting as well and he credits Marx quite a bit. I've got some 'advanced methodology' next year which has some Marxism in it.Pedro Sánchez wrote:Don't let the Anti-Marxists who seek flaws in his every word put you off, once you get beyond the beginning which is kind of simplistic in economic terms but deals with labour fundamentals, there are some really interesting ideas in there.
I can't see it being a bad thing to read unless, like many, I completely misunderstand it.
Re: Goals for 2014
Most of my goals for the year are attached to a large scale art project I am a part of. So I am using the requirements of that project to create opportunities to satisfy other personal goals.
2014 is all about being paid in experience for me and I'm fittin' to be wealthy
Setup at least 2 pop-up dinners to raise funds for the project
-full menu design/execution
-beverage pairings including brewing some of the beer myself
-Generate $3000+ for the project
Design perimeter lighting solution for the project
-Structural design
-audio/video design
-test installations X2 (1 indoor / 1 outdoor)
-replicate final design x10
Design Internal lighting solution for project
-probably an abstract of the code/hardware solution for the perimeter
Complete the entire project installation ahead of schedule in August.
Burn the project to the ground.
Roast tasty whole animals on the ashes.

I'd think long and hard before you do your masters - I ain't having the most of fun on mine atm.Muncey wrote:Get a first in my degree then either get a part time job and do a masters part time or get a job, save up for a year then go back and do a masters.
