Lovely
It's not as some elitist type thing or anything. It's literally just because it would be so fucking stupid. It was more a joke on the sudden enjoyment some people seem to have for industrial and noise
wait wut.
So lets ignore the fact that seemingly everyone on this forum seems to wear newbalance and airmaxes
you are saying because people have started to enjoy a certain sound, it makes them lesser's for not being their first?

Surely its the people that ride the line that are "worse", people that pretend to be "tru heads" after they have spent 2 months lurking a techno fourm, regurgitating opinions on surgeon and obscure german techno artists.
Suddenly they all crawl out of the woodwork to spout their knowledge from some higher plane

I mean honestly I cant get into techno atall, I cut my hair short on the sides, sometimes wear a shirt and i do own a pair of chinos somewhere.
Im a flat peak and a pair of trainers away from being a tnuc it seems
Maybe ill pick one up for that surgeon corsica gig? I bet he likes 5 pannels

Edit: I may have slightly missinterpreted what you were saying.

I agree people who pretend to know everything about techno after being on a forum for 2 months
should step down, but that's the case with anything.

Aside from that comment.. This discussion is honestly pissing me off, because techno is not about fashion. The fact that it's hip doesn't change the music as a whole and anyone frequently going to techno nights knows they attract a very diverse crowd.
Dekmantel Festival was 5panel rolled up chino heaven, but I honestly can't be bothered with it.

Let's all watch a video of some Skrillex stadium gig and put this into perspective.

I have to google nearly every reference to most of the music stuff posted on here these days, I can't keep up with the obscurity.

evolution of a 5 panel imo
phase 1: most obvs 5 panel stage. used to be into dubstep/dnb. started getting into techno and/or house but only listened to stuff made by former dnb/dubstep producers because "still has that bass getme". also starts wearing chinos, button up african print shirts, 5 panel, airmax
phase 2: starts getting into real techno or becomes a deep house nerd
phase 3: techno truhead. also gets kickdrum knuckle tattoo
phase 4: art gallery techno. starts viewing his/her music as "art". talks about how architecture and music should mix more.

*some may skip a step and dive straight for the truhead or art gallery status :killawatt:

a quick guide to recognizing 5 panel

it's safe to say that your assumptions about a person you suspect of being 5 panel are correct if he/she got into techno or house after you did.
it's also safe to assume that if you got into said genres at the same time, the other person is only doing if because it's popular, hence 5 panel.

another element crucial in determining if a person is 5 panel or not is their conduct at nights:
staring at the dj is 5 panel
standing with your arms crossed is 5 panel
showing any type of appreciation other than vaguely dancing with your back towards the dj is 5 panel
being overly enthusiastic or "fun" is 5 panel
doing any sort of drug other than smoking crack is 5 panel.

you will also have to take into consideration the person's clothing, as to not mistake deep house bros for 5 panel.

hope this clears up the confusion :w:

It really does not clear up any confusion, but I bet you know that :)

If it's not at least partly sarcastic it's confusing a whole lot of different things.
