We must not get stuck in simply discussing one candidate versus another, voting, and then assuming we are making change and supporting democracy. We need to stay active in spreading information if we are gonna do anything to save the little democracy we have left.

It's potentially far worse now I think, even though it's not in the headlines as much. Seemed in the 80's it was another nuclear test every month or so and that it was all paving the way to eventual conflict.

i totally agree that information is necessary. i believe that community action is necessary, and probably one of the more important steps to claiming power.

at the end of the day i really do think that the machinations of power and the powerful are something that we have to either overcome or just undermine...whether it's a revolution...or just simply finding a way to carve out our own communities/autonomous zones/whatever...

the beast is large. so we either kill ourselves throwing our hearts and minds at it, or we fly through its legs and bring it down with cables...

Can't say if the other world powers are not doing it in secret. I know of some interesting weapons the U.S. has tested.

a mass driver/rail gun if you will.

I'm in America now, for the first time in months.

I have to say I am flat-out fucking SHOCKED with how plastered the media is with this bullshit nomination. It is so incredibly dramatized, people just can't think/talk about anything else. America is in an election stupor, it's narcotic.

I had no idea it was at such a "1984" level of distraction.

While i said earlier I would much rather have Obama than Hillary it doesn't mean he doesn't stink of shit. The whole thing stinks. The process is shit, the candidates are awful, everything seems pretty bleak.

BUT- thank god he's charismatic at least. Adds a pleasantry to the ordeal. Then again, after 8 years of the current office a 8 foot turd might seem appealing. (certainly more appealing than hillary or mccain)

Anyways, there's a bit of my thoughts, I think it's worth noting for people outside america how dramatized/staged the entire media coverage is to a sickening fucking level.

I'm not even sure if I've ever posted before but this debate always catches my eye..

To be certain, I would have voted for Kucinich. How can you be for pulling the troops in Iraq and pro-war effort in Iran....? That just kinda doesn't make sense to me. And I don't even wanna get into that whole mishap about the border wall to Mexico...

However....I have a bit more of a personal reason for why I will most likely abstain from voting (first time since I was able to vote for Pres too so its a pretty heavy heart I'm bringing to the table on this).

Not that it ever really matters, but I could qualify as a black woman*. Before I continue, I really wanna make sure that this is in no way meant to be speaking for all black people or all black women even. I'm speaking for me alone.

The reason I even bring this up is because I think we are already bordering on really tense race relations here in the US. Now granted, the last time I heard about a cross being burned on someone's lawn was maybe a report on the KKK years ago. However, the extremely potent realm of racial tension happens to be in the social sphere: friendships, families, communities, relationships.

*sighs* It is with a heavy heart that I admit that though we have progressed towards in equality in some ways, we have regressed greatly in others.

So selfishly, I admit that I won't be voting for Obama out of fear for the social climate that would result. Personally, I don't think any of the democratic candidates that are running have the fortitude to perform major restoration on the union. That is not a disparaging remark about the Dems--I think the party has put forth a valiant effort. However I feel that in combination with our "FIX IT NAO" culture, one brief four year period won't be enough for *any* candidate to make serious strides towards balance.

Unfortunately, and this is sad to also admit, I'd rather McCain or Clinton take the hit. I'm used to the social ramifications of being a woman. Very much so used to it. However, I don't think I can personally stand for race to take a hit. And I do not believe the US is evolved enough to put a black (drop taint rule applied blackness even) man in office and if he is not a miracle worker, to be able to separate Obama the man from Obama the Litmus Test for how black people act when given the opportunity. I don't mean to be a pessimist...but I just don't think we've progressed enough in race relations for me to be able to believe the best in this situation...

However, as long as this Obama craze is soaring, I'll ride the black people trust and optimism as long as I can... Its nice that there is the assumption that I might be able to transcend stereotypes now.

Fuck....I just need up out the South. But seriously.....sounds like such an unbelievable reason to *not* vote for a candidate...but its just how I feel...
