Well,considering that British rock bands of the 60's were infatuated by 50's American rock and roll,which was born out of American blues and jazz music(to a certain extent),the fact that a Jamaican came to America with his soundsystem and created hip hop in the 70's,the early electronic sounds of disco,Chicago House,Detroit Techno,and NY Garage in the 80's,not to mention that punk was directly influenced by the MC5 and Iggy And The Stooges from way back in '69,The Ramones and the No Wave scene in the mid 70's to early 80's - I'd say that there has been a relatively fair exchange of ideals between the UK and US.I don't think either has any reason in the world to compare the two.Creativity can come from anywhere.I have heard Russian goth that makes the current American goth sound like children's church hymns.I personally think
The Chills and Jean-Paul Sartre Experience were two of the greatest pop bands of all time and put them up there with The Beatles and The Cure.And I think the 2step out of Romania is on par with the UK producers,but on a whole different level entirely,just as UK vs. US dubstep is.
