sorry mate but they are some rather misguided views there.martyn wrote:what are u lot on about????? ive seen most games, really dont think any of them were unwatchable cos of diving?? ofcourse theres players being gay on the pitch but i blame it more on the super high stakes in money and pressure in modern football as compared to the old days.
And "more former players should get involved" ?!? Look at the coaches of most national teams Van Basten, Hiddink, Donadoni etc etc theres plenty former players in todays football. (also loads in the premier league) + you dont even know what platini is in charge of?!
And about the old days, yes players got up and went ahead with the game, there were also plenty of broken backs, arms, legs and necks, im not sure if i'd enjoy the game more seeing someone break something on a regular basis?
yes there are super high stakes in football these days, thats certainly not an excuse. if they just concentraited on playing football instead of cheating they would reap more rewards.
yes plenty of former pros are coaches/managers, but they should be the ones who are totally running the game.
and no, i dont want to see the old days of nasty challenges and broken bones either. but just look at what they had to put up with, and todays players go on and act the way they do. i mean im sure you all remember rivaldo in the world cup a few years ago, the ball hit him on the leg and he threw himself down clutching his face and rolling around on the floor. AND THEN WAS STRETCHERED OFF!!
the points made in this thread are all valid issues that need to be addressed in the modern game, and if you think they are not then you have a bit of a misguided view of the sport
allthough it seems you may have just misunderstood whats been pointed out
