So, so wrong indeed.stanton wrote:Dude, you've got your shit wrong.kidlogic wrote: You do realize that its 'all of the sudden', right?
Re: Annoying Phrases / Sayings?
Where I grew up its common usage. I had honestly never noticed that it was 'All of A sudden until this thread, so I looked it up. The accepted common usage is 'All of A sudden' although where I grew up, along with in many other parts of the US 'All of the sudden' is the accepted common usage.tempest wrote:So, so wrong indeed.stanton wrote:Dude, you've got your shit wrong.kidlogic wrote: You do realize that its 'all of the sudden', right?
All of this is a moot point seeing as the proper way to say it is simply 'suddenly' as there can not be 'a' or 'the' sudden, since sudden is not a noun.
So we all have our shit wrong. Lego v Legos.
NOTE: These are not meant to prove myself right, they are meant to illustrate the regionality of how I say it as opposed to how others do. Please do not reply to simply tell me how wrong I am.

Ah, lads isn't so bad.SilentK wrote:the word "Lads" to describe your mates.

Oh and as someone said earlier, pretty much any use of the word "chav" makes me cringe these days. same as "grunger".
What irks me is people who aren't American and aren't Jeff Bridges saying 'dude' all the time.

I agree with the use of the word 'chav'
Having been brought up in the East End London it is a word which years ago I would hear people commonly use instead of child or kid
Chav is derived from the Romany word for a child 'chavvi'
Although I never really used the word in my parlance
not happy the way it is been hijacked
