Psychadelic, not psycho. The main difference being the inward reflection of pain and destruction resulting in an outward projection of love and beauty, versus an outward projection of hate and destruction resulting in the inward reflection of peace and happiness.

Also, you'll notice this thread has tunes with stuff that uses the full frequency range as opposed to just the sub and drum thing. Just think of it it as a place for tracks from producers that are experimenting with mid-range frequencies without sounding like a trapped animal getting beaten and whipped.
This is neither time or the place.

Good stuff, glad I checked this thread! I think the psytrance crew could up their ante with 140BPMs and more slow-paced, intricate rhythms otherwise it just sounds... ambient...

I don`t necessarily class his music as psychedelic

Hi everyone :h:
I should bump this topic cause I don`t really like dubstep, but I just love psy-dubstep :)
My musical background starts from minimal techno (stephan bodzin, kiko etc) than it turns to more psy-stuff (psy-ambient like CarbonBasedLifeforms, Distant System etc.), and now I`ve found that psy-dubstep is just what I need now :W:
less than 5% of the music from this thread is what I mean when I`m saying Psy-dubstep. It should be subtle, deep, slow, triangle+sine synth+some vocal, well mastered, psy-atmospheric. For me the purest one is Phutureprimitive`s - Kitetic album

Not so pure is Birds of Prey (just a few tracks)

Last that I`ve found is NiT GriT Remix and Bassnectar (just one track)

But I think Phutureprimitive is the core of this genre.
Did anyone find something new and cool?

Funny how you say most of the stuff in this thread isn`t what you think of as psychedelic dubstep and then give a pretty specific definition of it... the word psychedelic means `mind expanding` so it`s not going to take on a certain characteristic because that defeats the point of it. Lots of dubstep is psychedelic because it`s experimental, more so than many other `genres` including `psy-[whatever]`... It also has a lot more interesting rhythms, in my opinion

Everything I write is psychedelic really.

For more PsyTrance inspired checkout out Mr Bill or Electrocado.
Sensient is another Australian producer doing slower more progressive psy, very crunchy, psychedelic stuff.

You`re right, but normally I can differentiate the psychedelic music (better said, psy-influenced music) from something straight-beated and ordinary. I`m not saying about mainstream psy-music (psy-trance, goa-trance, psy-ambient, suomisaundi, prog-psy, full-on), because it`s a priori psychedelic, now I`m saying about some new cross-genres, in this case psy-dubstep, sometimes psy-IDM or psy-experimental electronica (either some new cross, or very experimental, where the musician can basically put his "psy-expanded mind" in his music (even if he doesn`t realized that he released psy-influenced music)).

That`s the reason, when I`am saying about 5%. We shouldn`t put "=" between experimental and psy. Basically, I would say that a majority of the music in this topic is experimental or more Psy-Dub+Dubstep cross (do You fell the difference between Psy-Dubstep and Psy-Dub + Dubstep?) For me, Psy-Dub + Dubstep is less solid, less monumental (in terms of sound), with more complex structure of hi-mid percussions etc. and Dub beat. All this constant subbass resistance of dubstep just disappears.
Here is my video (sorry for shitty quality), but I think it reflects what I`m saying.

YEs, man! Keep on doing, great work! Good quality :)
It feels more atmospheric, more chilling, reminds me Kryptic Minds - that has also this enveloping sab-bass (more deep than Burial`s enveloping bass).

Hehe) And instantly I realized that I don`t know its ID :dunce: I was 100% sure that after this party I identified all the tracks on my videos. I think it`s something new or (less obvious) a live edit of track High Rez (this evolving pad is there)... Since I also found a tiny video with one more unrelease - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsOrPfXG ... r_embedded

Not all dubstep in this, but definitely drenched in psychedelic vibes.
