Re: The Friday Share A Production Tip Thread™
mine for this week. distortion on snares give them lush and expensiveness if well executed.. paired with good dynamics tweaking it will add that very expensive sound to snares in commercial rock releases.

My tip: Waveshapers are great for self-masters if used right. And it won't destroy your dynamics like compressors would. Use waveshapers and compression together both in moderation and you'll be a winner.

Re: The Friday Share A Production Tip Thread™

Probably not a professional thing to do, but applying a curve like this usually will barely (I mean almost unnoticeable) sound distorted and will give a huge loudness increase.
Re: The Friday Share A Production Tip Thread™
wont ruin your lows/low mids?
sonnox has a plug that works on complex distortion and allows u to boost the rms in a quite incredible way but i usually dislike what it does to my lowmids
inflator it is called..

Re: The Friday Share A Production Tip Thread™
Most likely won't ruin them. But as I said there is some barely noticeable distorted that it adds, which may be a good thing because it helps things to glue together. But I wouldn't advise you to just use that curve an be done with it, you might want to adjust it depending on the track.Ldizzy wrote:wont ruin your lows/low mids?

Re: The Friday Share A Production Tip Thread™
Inflator is basically a wave shaper. It produces odd harmonics. Distortion is a powerful drug. Use it at the appropriate dose (usually moderate), and it will save your track. But too much will kill it.
Re: The Friday Share A Production Tip Thread™
dope stuff

Re: The Friday Share A Production Tip Thread™
You could run it in parralel and cut the low mids in the inflator channel. I havnt tried this but seems good in theoryLdizzy wrote:wont ruin your lows/low mids?
