just had a look on ebay, there are soo fucking many fake's now, all using the cover of the cd single for the picture, or just a white label

I just send this email to all the dodgey looking "In For The Kill" promos on ebay............

"Hello there,

Can you please tell me if this is the original promo or the illegal bootleg which is starting to go around. I've noticed the photo you're using is the La Roux 12" cover which all the bootleg sellers are using. Can you please post photo's of the front and back of this promo so as to prove it's original. Below is the photo of the original promo.....anything other than this is an illegal bootleg and you will find yourself being asked for a refund from your eventual buyer.

Image

Thank you."

I look forward to getting responses.

this isn't a new thing though, they've been doing it for YEARS, i'm amazed it's taken so long for it to appear on DSF

forums for every other form of dance music have hundreds of threads identical to this one. HTFR aren't going to respond, they've been getting away with it for years, they don't give a fuck.

Just got a reply on ebay. Here it is...................

"This weekend it was brought to my attention that there was a second run of the limited
skream mix of la roux's in for the kill. Skream played a gig at the Ten Ton dubstep
night at Theme in southsea of which personal friends run/dj at. I asked them to enquire
as to why my copy didn't have the stamped wordage on it and they informed me there was this second run."

Skream does know about this thread.

As for the ebayer............I'm pretty sure he/she was duped. I can let you know they also told me it came from....Juno! At least this person had the decency to change the listing and reply to my email out of the ten or so I sent. On the negative side they've bought the 12" then virtually immediately listed it for sale on ebay.

It sounds okay and the pressings alright. Difficult to tell without a copy of the original. Dont like the thought that they've used the 320kbps mp3 as the master, though wouldnt be surprised if the original was like that as well.

My girlfirend picked one up too and sent HTFR an email asking if the 12" was one of the original promos before it was sent out.........she got no reply.

I've just managed to get a legit (hopefully!) one from discogs for £25 so It'll be interesting to see if there is an audio difference.

Can't beleive you gave em £25 for it! The price will come down. If you look at the Market Price History on Discogs only two copies have been sold - one for £10 and your £25 copy!
