don't want to upset anyone but I think this whole genre is turd, poor repettitive beats with cliched vocal hooks and shitty funky basslines, It just doesn't stir my emotions. For a genre to be good imo it has to really inspire the senses, the first propper band i fell in love with was the ramones because they sounded so different from anything else and it just made me tingle listning to their music. I get the same feeling about dubstep and, to an extent, dnb because the bassline and structure inspire me. House, on the other hand, feels dull and un inspiring.

Show me a house tune with heaps of orrigionality and emotion and I will gladly eat my words.

still not feeling it, can see how it has led on to bigger and better things but still don't feel it.

As I said in my previous post I love music that stirs me and this don't yeah sure a lot of the music I love has it's origins in other stuff but that don't mean I have to like the music that inspired the music I love.

The Ramones, for example, where inspired by bands like the new york dolls and although I adore the ramones I cannot stand the new york dolls.

I'm quite happy for people to disagree with me but imo This genre sucks balls and I think I am quite entitled to express that opinion.

Having said this I am still happy to hear anything you think may change my mind.

Not the best thing i've ever heard but it feels more layered than alot of the stuff i've heard still full of cliched claps reppitition and bongo hits but there is a sole to that one.

Tbh the cheesy shite is part of what makes it enjoyable... the juxtaposition of cheesy shite with fairly hard beats and bass, and also the fact that it actually sounds like music for going out and partying to rather than for 300 serious faced teenage boys (of all ages) in t-shirts to stare at the floor to while congratulating themselves on having found music that no girls like and hence that definitely isn't gay...

Never been much of a funky house fan, however i've had my eyes opened by these guys:

http://www.theheatwave.co.uk/

They've got a show on Rinse too, really excellent selection of dancehall bashment mixed up with funky tunes, check the mp3 section, in particular these badboys:

Party Harder (320)

Rolex It Up (320)

It’s On Tonight (320)

And these filthy Bashment mixes:

Rowdy Bashment 2007

Rowdy Bashment 2008

NAAAAASTTY

I've not really caught this funky bug like other folk have. If anyone fancies pointing me in the direction of non-cheesy, well-produced stuff, then shoot.

this thread got bumped again yea?

havent read any of the new reply's but if you think this then you're ignorance is beyond saving.

Listen to Deep Teknologi & ScratchaDVA on rinse, also go to beyond @ plastic people.

It's like dubstep's first take-off again.

"Natty" - Scratcha. Watch out for that.

Yeah I bumped my own thread to say that since making it I had actually found some decent stuff, certainly wouldnt have called it 'UK Funky' myself but it seems to be the genre its been pigeonholed to so it was just a little public retraction before I start dabbling in a bit myself:P

n yeah theyve got some sick tune son their show. Still not into any of the vocal stuff though although I did like the Roska Wonderful day tune, gets the birds up and its something I can have a little wiggle to myself.
