Didn't read the whole thread, but here is my 2 cents.
(in no order whatsoever)
Boards of Canada: Geogaddi
Kraftwerk: Computer World
Drexciya: Grava 4 b2b Neptunes Lair b2b Discover the Deep
Aparnet: Wireless Internet
Rei Harakami: Red Curb b2b Wasuremono
loads more, but I'll just stop here.

Did nobody mention Wormhole? Classic.
FSOL - Life Forms for sure, sickness, still holds up now. Dead Cities is also teh sickness.
Saw the first two Orbital albums mentioned, but no Snivilisation or Insides? Those two albums are amazing.
Recently, Jon Hopkins - Insides blew me away. If you haven't heard this, get on it. It's brilliant.
Boards of Canada - Music has the Right to Children (campfire Headphaase is also outstanding, was listening to that just yesterday)
Digitonal - Save Your Light for Darker Days (favourite album of 2008 by some distance)
Man, choosing one album is just impossible. I could probably list another 20 albums that have changed my life in some way...
