Bass Jacka : Dont know if its just my headphones or what but sounds like those percs are too much panned to right, i mean theres few hits on the right and one on the left side so it sounds like theres much going on at the right side and just something on the left side. But nice track! Really makes me wanna sit back and light my joint :D

mthrfnk : That snare could be a little bit louder but thats just my opinion sounds nice like that too. Really nice summer vibes in this track! :W:

Theres something wrong with my computer or soundcloud it just doesnt load those tracks and it loaded 2 tracks and when i tried to listen em again they didnt work, so i think i can upload my track to SC and link it here but i do it later when i can listen these tracks here so i can give more feedback so ill update this post later!

@ mthrfnk: I like that tune a lot. Has a really good vibe and sounds tight from a production stand point. As someone else said the, the snare/clap seems a little lost in the mix. I also think (imo) it might have been nice to have another sounds (maybe a saw or something) over the little chord glitches you do (ex. @1:20 mark) just to make them stand out a little more. Overall though, i cant wait to hear the whole song. :4:

@ blinkesko: Thats cool remix you have going there. I havent heard the original but it really sounds like a song that Linkin Park would make. Honestly, i wouldn't worry about making a huge drop, i really like the arrangement the way it is now. Only problem is, and my mind might just be playing tricks on me, that it sounds like a couple parts go a little out of key with the vocals. Like i said, might just be me. But otherwise, mix that shit down and youll have a great track.

@ Ada: The whole high end of that mix just seems way to upfront. Kinda drowning out everything else. The break at 1:16 sounds really cool and i like the way it worked into the rest of the song.

Heres my new WIP. The mix sounds like shit and im not too happy with the drop arrangement. Aside from that, im pretty happy with the song overall. I tried a lot of new techniques with making this (mostly NY compression). Im really happy with the drums. Let me know what you think =. :Q:

mthrfnk: great tune, maybe some variation over the main chords would do the track some good. but overall i'm pretty happy listening to it from here.

crimsonghost: you've got the general gist of brostep down quite nicely and doesn't sound all that bad - the drums i would say have let you down a little bit - they sound very drowned out by... everything else! i do enjoy the soundscapes from 2:30 onwards however. i don't enjoy that second drop tho, but take what i say with a pinch of salt tho - that's only a personal opinion :)

here's my WIP - haven't put anything up for a while but i've been pretty happy with this so far...

Thanks for that! I listened to it again after you said that, and your totally right. My drums are way lost during the drop. I think maybe some mixing might help that out though. And im also not a big fan of the second drop, feels maybe a bit forced? I dunno. But thats why its a wip. Cheers! :Q:

I heard yours, but honestly didn't have very much to say about it so kinda passed it over. Iirc it was a fairly short clip with not much going on. There's nothing wrong with that, just nothing really stood out to me.

This seems to happen lots if you're like the last post on a page - people on the new page tend to miss you by just going to the top of the previous page. I normally try to give feedback to the 3 or 4 posts directly previous to me, but other people don't seem to do that, they just give it randomly lol.

No need to get pissed. I listened to it and didn't have anything to say so didn't comment on it. And im sure im not the only one who felt that way, but that's the way it goes around here sometimes. Some tracks stand out more than others. And it's happened to me plenty of times before. Just keep doing what your doing and don't get discouraged.

mthrfnk – sounds pretty clean on my headphones, I like the vocal chop melody but I feel like you could benefit from switching up the rhythm on the vocals so sometimes they are double time a la skrillex (pardon me for the skrillex reference, but I do think he’s good at chopping vocals). Everything else sounds pretty good and polished

crimson ghost – everything sounds correct, but I found myself fast forwarding through to get to the drop (no offense). The intro needs more going on to keep my attention. The drop is good though and I like your bass phrases- maybe try throwing some high pitched synths or supersaws in there too for good variations

oner_music – same advice I gave crimson ghost – I had to fast forward through the intro. Your average listener is gonna need more going on in the intro. Whether or not someone listens to your song all the way through is entirely dependent on the first 10 seconds or so, so try to grab attention right away. I like the deep subbass and snare combo. Sounds heavy. I could see a reggae skank synth noise dropped in there on the off beats to give it more of a headnodding vibe. Pretty good so far

here is my passion pit remix that I made in one sitting with my bose headphones so my ears aren’t fresh. Lemme know any criticisms… thank ya

@Crimsonghost - The atmosphere is great. The build up works. For some reason I'm reminded of Linkin Park listening to this. A great arrangement. Drums sound tight, in certain places during the drop I feel they lose their punch, but that might be just me.

@oner_music - I like the drop. Sounds old skool. The intro is a bit flat. Try layering some instruments, give your sound more timbre. Introduce some build up. I'm not sure about the reverb on the snare, sounds a little long. See how it sounds gated. Then bring that sub out a bit more. Make it thump. Sidechain it, it may work.

No WIP from me. Just thought I'd come and leave some feedback.

@mtl6: Snare sounds.. floppy. I'd change it out. Also, try taking out the beat once in a while to switch it up, feels kind of boring when it's there all the time. also feel like there could be more melodic elements, especially in the intro. the vocals could be turned up a bit aswell

@oner_music: just out of curiousity, is this the FL kick? :P tune's deep tho, but I feel like some more atmospheric elements would do it good. maybe some unusual percussion aswell, if you want to make it stand out more. the lowpassed bass is a bit low imo, I'd turn it up a bit.

@Crimsonghost: Snare sounds a bit muffled, you may want to boost the high end/add another layer to fill it out, unless you want it to sound like it does now, of course. the guitar tone is nice. feel like the drop could have a bit better flow, and it sounds pretty empty at times, when you cut out the basses for the last part of the bars. I'd personally probably bring up the upper mids a bit on the basses aswell. The crash is really fukin loud btw, maybe highpass it a bit and turn it down? :P

So, a lil update on my remix, changed the intro, it's now alot longer than it was, and I have yet to write a decent drop that I like, so I played one note of a bass and cut it after that for this preview, just want opinions on the intro so far :)
Note, it's a bit low, so u might want to turn up the volume quite a bit

Sick remix you got there! But the vocoder bass at the end with vocals is a bit much, try lowering the levels and compressing the crap out of it!

Its awhile since anyone else asked and the other person got tons of feedback, could i get some also? I just started trying to produce and this is little test on a little of everything. I think its pretty lame and the notes melody is pretty cheesey buts my first attempt. I think my growls are ok for a start but i still got plenty to learn!Soundcloud

@R3b_Official
Alright, a couple things: First of all, the build was pretty effective - probably the best part. The mixing needs a little work - I can really only hear the top of the kick drum, no other drums during the drop. Most of all though, it just needs to be more musical. The sound design, mixing, etc. is fine, not great, but that will get better the more you do it. In terms of composition though, there's not really much of a melody. When I'm writing I try to think about what will get stuck in people's heads, or what you can hum along to.

@blinkesko
This is huge dude! I love how wide and epic it feels. And that build really had me on the edge of my seat. Personally, I would change that bass sound up - it's a bit grainy for my taste. The only other thing I'd say is that 2.5 minutes might be a bit long for an intro, but obviously I don't know what your plan plan for the whole track is. I look forward to seeing where it goes!

@mtl6
I agree that the snare might need a little work. I like the vibe you have going on overall, but the track doesn't really go anywhere - it's basically just one part that evolves, you might want to add a second part and do so A A B A kinda thing.

Here's the track I'm working on right now - feeling like I'm basically done in terms of composition, just trying to get the mixing all locked down!

@marlin Thanks man appreciate it! THe build up was probably the shortest part i worked on the whole part and fitted nice, I need to be more musically smart also but i havent been serious in music before besides playing guitar and learning chords but im learning music theory on my own time and that has help understand and respect songs and artist more. I sorta gave up on mixing half way because i put i good couple hours with the growls and resampled each a good 3 times, but thanks ill change a lot of things and add more a natural melody.
Your song by the way sounds sweet! The only things is the stereo feel, listening with my headphones the center part feels a bit low and muddy and the outsides are bright and loud. I dont really know how to explain it well but theres a little to much movement and some sounds are muffled a bit in the middle and low end but other than that an amazing track and unique!

@marlin: The intro is weird and tbh I didn't like the screamy bits. Overall the intro and build sound a bit incoherent just like you jammed a lot of random sounds together, nothing plays off another element (call and response wise). Up to the drop the buidl is louder than the drop itself (you can actually see that in the waveform) so try and lower the mix/filter the build so the drop has more impact. The drop itself is good, but could use more power courtesy of a punchier kick and thicker sub. I'd also work on your snare, it's too white-noisey, it needs a little low end thump. Also mix wise, I'd tone down the bleeps, and bring up the midrange and bass.

@R3b_Official: Your track sounds really lifeless and quiet from the start, maybe try whacking a limiter on the master just to bring up the level a bit (not advising you crush the shit out of it... it's just a bit quiet). I'd change the sample tbh, Feed Me used it in a track and well I'd change it if I were you. I'm not really sure what the drop was tbh, it sounded like muddy noise - the growls were really not not great and sound completely dissonant and lack any musical characteristics - really go back to the sund design stage on these and make them thicker, sharper and less drony. The mix isn't great either - the drums are compeltely drowned by the synths so try and bring them through. I'd also add more elements: a kick/snare/growl isn't enough to fill a track - go listen to stuff you like that has this sort of sound (e.g. Skrillex, Feed Me etc) and listen to what they add - chords, melodies under the growls, risers, extra perc, cymbals etc. :W:

@blinkesko: Man I really do like this as I said before, it's starting to sound really professional. The elements all gel perfectly and the mix has great clarity. What instrument is doing the arp at 0.55? I need it :P This really does have the potential to be epic, the way you have such a climatic intro and build and tease the bass with the vox is brilliant (did you use a vocoder for that or do it manually?) - I wanna hear a good drop! :4:

This is a little something I did the other day, only an intro/build atm - trying to get someone to do some vocals atm.

@mthrfnk
Holy shit dude. That's great. The sounds are all really clean, and I love the vibe you create. I can't wait to see where it goes. I love that lead that comes in at :33, how'd you make that? Really, the only thing that I noticed is that when the drums come in at the end of the build, they seem a little quiet. Actually, the percs in the beginning are kinda quiet too, I might bring all the percussion up a bit.

Here's a newer version of my track - I redid the kick and snare, worked on the builds some, and made some changes to the mix. I'm not sure about the new kick sound though...
