didn't you think the ending was a little anticlimactic though? Still, a good movie

Been on a kurosawa buzz lately

Yojimbo

Better than the sergio leone/clint eastwood remake for a few dollars more imo

7 samurai

Check out the theme:

Also saw the wolf of wall street: only funny bit is the lemons sequence, otherwise utter shite film.

I tried watching seven samurai recently. I'm sure it was great and all in it's day but it's just too dated for me to enjoy, and not just the black and white, it was like watching something at 5fps...

The Counselor was better than everyone told me it would be, still weird though. Felt like Malick somehow wrote some of the scenes  . I liked the pacing, there's not much too over-the-top action like Ridley can sometimes do. Overall good film

McCarthy must find some sexual appeal to desert landscapes

It has a slow enough pace alright; half way through the copy I have has a ten minute intermission, but I guess you just have to watch it with the mindset of reading a book or watching a play or summat

Awesome, enough said.

All The President's Men.

Also awesome.

Almost Famous

Forgot how many people are in this. Enjoyable, made me want to listen to Led Zeppelin.

Stripes

Classic Bill Murray comedy. Includes 80s nudity w/ big bush. Recommended.

Thor - The Dark World

Enjoyable on a par with the first one. Loki smashes it again, liked how it was left open ended with
[+] Spoiler
Loki taking the throne from Odin and The Collector being introduced
. Sets things up well for Avengers 2.

12 Years a Slave

I'm torn. Beautifully shot and acted, but something felt lacking in the writing and direction... it just didn't grab me the way a lot of films on this subject do especially with the script awkward as hell at times.. characters jumping from broken cotton-field English to being some of the most eloquent slaves in history. Very much felt an award-conscious Hollywood blockbuster.

Naked, took me a while to get into it.. didn't have a clue what was going on but loved it in the end. Its like a London/homeless/rapey version of Waking Life.

In memory of man like Hoffman I'll be watching either Happiness or Pirate Radio tonight.. 2 of his films I've yet to see.

Pirate Radio is called The Boat That Rocked in the UK. The US version had like half hour cut from it iirc

Fuck that, 'Synecdoche, New York' or don't bother.

Rewatched that film just a week ago and came to the conclusion it's in my top 3 and PSH is probably my favourite actor, fecking typical...

Thought it was brilliant as well. The whole thing of not putting story telling first makes for very interesting
scenes.
