We're up to Series 4 and it's still pretty fucking addictive. The trip to Ireland was a bit shit though... especially the ridiculous "Oirish" theme music.FuDuzn wrote:I disagree. It gets increasingly ridiculous in season 5 & 6 - still entertained me enough to keep watching despite how silly it got.

Just watched the first episode, great as usual. I really enjoy the slow pace of it for some reason, really like how it unfolds so slowly. Nearly every scene filled with tension like last season, think it's gonna be great againRönin wrote:Gonna watch the new Rectify.

Favourite scenes for me are still the ones in death row. The final scene in this episode is amazing
Re: Recommend me a TV Series
Gonna give Rectify a bash, I think.
Sons of Anarchy is starting to wane hard, but my girl's still a big fan and it's easy to fit an episode inbetween World Cup games to appease her.. we've just started series 5 and it feels like this one is setting up to either be awesome or utter gash which is about par for the course. Season 4 was actually pretty decent in the end.
Plodding through Orange Is The New Black Series 2 which is very, VERY good. The end of episode 7 (I think) with the Prison's 'resolution' of the old lady's problems dumbfoundingly believable. Very nearly had me blubbing.
Also snagged the DVD of Home Time last week after it'd been sat in my Amazon basket for a couple of months. Co-written and starring Emma Fryer in her pre-Ideal/Phoneshop days about a girl who heads back to Coventry with her tail between her legs when she's about 30 after leaving for fame and fortune in London when she was a teenager. Equal parts poignant and witty and utterly savage at times. Really is what it feels like when I head back to small-town England sometimes.
"Last night... ONLY IN COV...!"
"Why, what did we.... do?"
"Well.... we got a bit drunk, didn't we!"

Re: Recommend me a TV Series
I've pretty much finished Orange Is The New Black, 2 episodes left I think... been ill and not been able to sleep so got through about 20 hours b2b lol, with breaks to watch footie and eat. Its decent, gets a bit ridiculous at times and sometimes it feels like they're trying to plate spin storylines, but overall I've really enjoyed it. Very easy to watch so ideal ill in bed tele.
I thought the start of the 2nd series was really slow.
Finished Fargo yesterday as well, great series.. really enjoyed it.

Re: Recommend me a TV Series
The pacing will feel incredibly slow, especially if you've been watching a lot of SOA, but stick with it, one of the best shows around just now, no doubt.magma wrote:Gonna give Rectify a bash, I think.
If you're using Netflix, the first season is on the Canadian Netflix and it looks like they're adding the 2nd season as each episode is being aired too. I use Hola to get access to the Canadian library

Nice one. Slow is fine... I think we could do with some slow.

Saw the first episode and it was shite, not bothered to return to it yet. Does it get better?
Re: Recommend me a TV Series
Pretty interested in that new HBO show Leftovers, sounds like it could be good. It's by Damon Lindelof and I was a big Lost fan.

Re: Recommend me a TV Series
hang on, slow? I thought it was ridiculously fast paced, i.e. flashing from scene to scene with very little plot or character building , just lots of gore and bullshit riddle dialogue. not for me

It is abit thin until you get to about 3 or 4 eps in. Its basically the Eva Green show thoughmurky21 wrote:hang on, slow? Re: Recommend me a TV Series
I tried watching it for Eva Green but apart from the Frankenstein story (which is really really good) it was kinda meh.
I only watched 2 or 3 episodes though, does it get better afterwards ?

It's filled with gore but then they go on this random Frankenstein plot and tell this overly sob story blah blah I've fallen asleep.

Re: Recommend me a TV Series
Not sure if anyone mentioned Hemlock Grove yet. If you want something that is good that will probably make you super uncomfortable at some points, it's a pretty great show.
