Yeah, this is true, much better quality than listening through the dubs forum.jameshk wrote:Just been listening through to a lot of these tunes on here, ninja's you impress me. too much un-noticed talent in here. Big ups to you all!
This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but why do so many of you not allow downloads? There are people (especially in the dubs forum) that have soundcloud pages with a dozen tunes with hardly any comments or listens and downloads are disabled...the majority of soundcloud tunes have downloads disabled.
If giving away free tunes is good enough promotion for just about everyone from Skream and Benga through to Radiohead and The Weeknd then why do so many unsigned producers want to stop people from downloading their music? Do they really think that tunes will get signed up by labels and allowing downloads will hamper that?....surely its all about getting your tunes out there and heard by as many people as possible to begin with, build up some hype, get your name known and a following and then perhaps see how it goes selling it yourself through bandcamp/itunes/beatport the getting signed/selling tunes stuff comes later?

True, I think allowing downloads is good for promotion. The only time in which I do not allow downloads is when I dont want someone downloading my track....This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but why do so many of you not allow downloads? Having said that, please give me some feedback. I have already done my share of leaving feedback for others (all my posts are track feedback on that horrible dub & tunes for feedback forum).

IMHO it's good when not everything is everywhere at anytime available!
also it's not necessary about getting my sound out to as many people a possible. i prefer picking out the persons i want to share my tune with - preferably and usually on dubplate.
if the right time comes - stuff will be pressed on wax. if not - well... then not.

Re: THE SECRET NINJA DUBS CLUB

I can understand if there are copyright issues, or if there is a lot of interest and a definite likelihood of those tracks getting signed, if if you want to DJ the tunes and get interest in you exclusive DJ sets. But it seems like the majority of soundcloud users are slightly delusional about the quality of their tunes and likelihood of getting them signed, surely just looking through a few soundcloud pages it is clear who is getting enough interest to sell their tunes (and this isn't aimed at you or anyone in particular).
Anyway, sorry- I don't wan't to derail this thread, obviously y'all do what you feel, what do I know!
That tune is really good Kodachrome- I'd download it!

Re: THE SECRET NINJA DUBS CLUB
I have thought about this, and it does make sense. all my tracks dont have downloads enabled, someone asked me if they could have a copy of my la roux remix and i enabled the downloads for that, and left it open. I got some downloads (10 or something shit like that) and i loved the fact people would want my music, but was more frustrated as i didnt know who had it and no one said thanksMr Hyde wrote:Yeah, this is true, much better quality than listening through the dubs forum.jameshk wrote:Just been listening through to a lot of these tunes on here, ninja's you impress me. too much un-noticed talent in here.
