I see more of a mobbing mentality than heads actually being offended by this. A number of people said it's shit so let's all get on kicking someone when he's already down. Like it's gonna make a difference if there's 5 more pages of criticism if the first one is filled with criticism to begin with.

Wah wah wah, people will be.. misinformed about dubstep, oh no! If they cared enough to begin with they would do their own, further research, anyway. If people won't be misinformed by it through MTV, they likely will through their Borgore loving friends who think that dubstep is slowed down drum n bass with wobbles. There are even people on this very forum who think FlyLo is dubstep and he is (was?) listed as a dubstep musician on Wikipedia. Wrong information can be found in more than one way. Just consider all the kids who got into "metal" through Korn and Limp Bizkit thinking that shit is metal but once they get deeper into metal itself, realize that they were wrong.

Get over it.

needs more history.
sure, there's a mention of some of the people at the foundation, but it's overall too obvious names and too little much.
"brostep" and "joystep" and "leftfield" are words you should eliminate.
some producers are covering different grounds aswell, not being strictly "soft" or "hard".
dunno
without any disrespect this is a bit "ishkur's guide to electronic music" style, not giving any info that will stick or teach you anything if you're seriously trying to find more info on this music.

Right, 6 pages of "it's awful" and taking offense to "misinfwormation destwoying my sween boo-hoo" is giving decent feedback.

If I had a BBQ and brought lots of quality meat for people to eat, and then someone turned up with a big shit and put it on my barbie, I'd kick them and look down at them.

Nearly all of the articles promoted on this forum are decent and worth a read. This dude turned up, writing for possibly the biggest 'music' publication type media platform in the world, with the most shit article in the history of dubstep. That's equivalent to putting a turd on my barbie. He went and put dog shit all over Blackdown's nice spicy chicken.

The original article has been edited from the first version that was posted . So it's not quite as bad as it was (but is still pretty lousy).
The original poster asked for opinions and got some.
So dnno why some ppl feel the need to play devils advocate to what was a pretty poor article.
The whole trying to play devils advocate to just shite is more irritating than the so called "haters" posts imo.

I fucking hate MTV as perhaps the biggest thing wrong with music today. Image based commercialism that dictates to insecure impressionable preteens what they should like or not, sell them profitable images based on it that they make money from and the tools that buy it end up suffering for it sooner or later. If MTV's going to sink it claws into dubstep there's going to be some ridiculous fashion image attached to it that requires popularity seeking teenagers with no real big picture perspective on life to screw up their future and take up self destructive behaviour in order to be part of what's popular. The face of dubstep will then become a bunch of industry manufactured puppets with zero real creativity or substance as the real creative talent the genre was built on will be overlooked by consumer minded sheep who have no fucking idea what music itself is about in the first place. 2bh exactly the same thing happened to grime but i always thought it was the mc following that kickstarted it's demise.

A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be.

is this guy for real?
he thinks Dub Police is a producer... no its a record label.
and producing 'darker' stuff? NO i dont even think he's even heard of the DMZ label let alone Swamp81.

to be honest, the article is a pile of shit, you have put no research into it at all!
it sounds like you've just overheard a conversation on dubstep and decided to write an article on it.
Deep, dark dungeon sounds.
