Are we allowed to accuse that of vinyl elitism, then?

Edit - I mean, I buy vinyl because I like vinyl and I go to record shops because I like record shops, but I don't try to pretend that I buying vinyl and going to record shops make me more of a 'music lover' than someone who'd rather have three times as many tunes than a bunch of heavy black plastic...

Nice read Badger! And pretty bang on par too although I guess I'll just get accused of being an elitist for agreeing with it!

I'll be doing a mix at some point this week so will make sure I upload ;) Also doing an oldskool show tomorrow on Sub FM seeing as I got it all sorted!

My brother turned 14 and has 2 old recordplayers and a second hand mixer, he loves it !
He cant efford new records (although i provide him some on special occasions) but he does fleamarkets with the father
there is a future in the young generation ;)

and about people playing serrato but still pushing vinyl, i got double feelings with that..
You have your pc in front of you and its the first thing kids see (your records are probably in the back) - Kids copy what they see ..

This. haha. The main reason that I buy vinyl is that I love the physical aspect of it. There's nothing like holding wax in your hands. Also, supporting the producers / labels / etc. is nice.

My fascination with vinyl started when I was pretty young. I remember going through a closet at home and finding a few crates of my dad's old stuff. Nothing but tunes from the 1960s-1980s. I remember spending hours just listening to random music. Ever since then, I've been hooked.

I know there are still loads of DJs still playing vinyl, and I can understand why people use digital, because I feel like I cant play the full selection of what I want becasue I either have unreleased stuff, free stuff, or just digital releases. Also the amount of times I've sworn that I'm switching to CDs because I'm lugging my records home  To hopefully try and keep vinyl going me and my mates started SimplyVinyl which is a vinyl only night :) It's mainly D&B headliners but I'm hoping to take it more towards 120-140 bpm stuff. Still loads of really good DJs playing vinyl. My personal favourite is Donga (Well Rounded) who has so many obscure but brilliant records that I cant even start to comprehend! Also I love the thought that when I have kids they'll find my records hidden away somewhere and I can bore them to death with stories of "the good old days"

my kids will be mixing my records from a very young age. then when they are 12 and comparable to andy c, i'll become their tour manager and live a happy long rich life.

I think this scene has a fairly healthly vinyl culture, just like punk still does.
To most kids in the punk scene it's more of an economy thing. The logic is kinda cracked. But basically... short songs = little space = 7 inches instead of CD, because CDs are capable of far more and would be wasted on 5 or 10 minutes of music.

And there's nothing but super limited runs these days because no one is buying shit and labels are closing left and right. If punk is keeping anything alive, it's tape, I'd say.
I can't see how doing even a short pressed run of 7"'s can be cheaper than buying a pack of CDRs and ripping some tracks onto it. Only got a few punk tapes but no tape player like.

Of course you could scratch your arse and click download… call yourself a music lover and boast about how many terabytes of Depeche Mode B-sides you have on your hard drive… or you could turn off the computer, and reconnect.
