Looks like there could be a revival for Bagleys/Canvas/whatever it's called these days.

Only sizable venue I know of in London with a decent outdoor area.

Herbal's got a roof terrace. Its surrounded by other buildings as well so theres no wind- perfect for skinning up and having a cheeky smoke or three

Just need to make sure- is it still legal to shoot smack in clubs? It's just pubs and playgroups you can't do that in now, innit?

A nightclub in York is expecting the smell of sweaty revellers to be an unwelcome side effect of next month's smoking ban.

Managers at Nexus say cigarette smoke currently masks body odour and the smell of stale beer, vomit and toilets.

In preparation for the smoking ban the club has installed fragrance systems which pump out smells including strawberry, chocolate and vanilla.

The club's owners have spent nearly £2,000 on the equipment.

If the trial is a success, it will buy more of the systems and customers will choose which fragrances will stay.

Club manager Allan Coleman said: "We know that once the smoke and cigars have all gone there are going to be other smells that appear.

"We want to make sure the venue is as nice-smelling as possible."

Mr Coleman said the response from customers so far had been positive.

The ban on smoking in virtually all enclosed public spaces and workplaces in England will begin on 1 July.

I would rather put up with the smell of cigarette smoke than put up with the reek of BO/Ginsters/Corned Beef/puke/piss and stale beer.

awwww man , you cats are so lucky . in NYC the bans been in effect for a couple years now . mandatory , no smoking inside ANYWHERE , bars restaurants you name it , with big fines for violations

its become the way it is, im used to it now , as doug said it sucks during the winter for sure. fucking cold ass nights smokin out on the street . for non smokers its a blessing tho imust say. for 2 years i quit smoking cigs and it was beautiful, no 2nd hand smoke filling the air. sometimes in a dark dank club thats all hot and sweaty having someone blow smoke in your face is gross . ganja is another story , but i dont mind takin a walk round the block wit a spliff so as not have a huge bouncer in my face about it

it sucks, but get used to it :|

I just cant quite tell if thats the attitude to take :?

Either its not that big a deal and we should stop whinging, or it is another piece of negative freedom being forced upon our country without a say in the matter that is being passed off as not a big deal that we should stop whinging about.

Aint made up my mind yet...

Don't worry, mate

"Performing artists" are permitted to smoke whilst performing
so it says in the gov.t pamphlet I was sent.

Presumably this means DJ's can smoke during sets, usually this is OK in other countries with bans so fingers-crossed.

Weed is illegal anyway, so what the F, laws already exist that allow police to close down a venue if they have evidence of any drug use at all.

squat/free/warehouse raves have been going down all over London for a long long time.

sure, of course, but they've got way more frequent and/or public in the last few months i think.

HahHah very funny, you must be deluded mate,
you've probably been to too many squat parties.

no offence anyway

the trouble with squat parties though is.........don't get me started
