Create a preset yourself, tweak it and make it YOURS, I did that to most of my tunes and I am still trying to make it better and better.
Why has it got to be about 'Making It' - Since when was that the reason to create music?

You hear it time and time again - Skrillex discovered his sound by trying to recreate Noisia, Noisia discovered their sound trying to recreate older Neuro / Reece sounds, Oasis became themselves by writing songs that sounded somewhat similar to The Beatles. Honestly, everyone has their influences and its very rare someone can sit in front of a blank canvas and create something amazing and unique but very often someone will try to recreate something else and in turn hit gold.

Stop being so bitter about not making it yet or whatever and go and do what the rest of us are doing and enjoy making music.

I did not mean when you are producing and try to recreate stuff is bad, but when you try to BE like someone, e.g. those 16 y/o skrillex producers on youtube, but getting your own unique style in your production is something you should work towards too, that is my opinion, and ofcourse you have to have influences on your stuff, but that doesn't mean you have to copy each other bass sounds, Like you said, Skrillex tried to recreate Noisa, he did not copy it, he tried making it himself with eventually his own tweaks to it.

Again I am not trying to say that you aren't allowed to do stuff, no way, music is yours to do with it whatever you want, except pirating haha, but this is just my POV of it.

Does every thread have to degenerate into the same argument every time?

yes. the message "be unique" is being spread around too little. The goal is that for every "how do I sound like someone else" you counter with a deep message about how being unique is vastly more important because that`s what you are doing.

Maybe skrillex's music is what they enjoy and recreating that kinda stuff is what they enjoy, can't fault them for that
