Pretty good album. Only part that bothers me is how he uses that same sound a lot. Like on Statement of Intent, Ruff House, and Contagion

33rpm sides are slightly quiter and harder to mix.

Two easy steps to solve this "problem":
Always check your levels before mixing the tune and adjust the gain/trim accordingly (this should be done with any record btw)
Practice mixing with 33 rpm records and use a lighter touch

I'm getting somewhat annoyed that this statement keeps coming up. Especially when I have several 33rpm records which are mastered better than many 45rpm records.

may i ask why? i understand some 45s are louder the 33s but come on use the trim and levels. this finding it harder to mix 33s proper puzzles me :?
i have plenty of reggae albums jah cure free jah cure the truth has like 6-7 tracks each side of the vinyl and trust me when i say the mix is very loud and nice.

not because of the volume, but because of the 'sensitivity'. you have to be pretty careful when mixing with albums or 33rpm singles and touch them gently. therefore mixing with 45s is kinda more 'physical' for me. if that makes sense...
and speaking of jah cure, Ghetto Life is the to go album. :W:

so you're telling me a record spinning at 33 rpm isn't more sensitive to touching than one playing at 45?
