yo I have a girl friend now. I met her through the music.

if she calls and I'm in the studio, she'll insist that I immediately get off of the phone and get back to work. She likes to hang out when i'm working in cubase. she likes to play with synths when we hang out late into the night.

she's the shit. my dubstep angel.

they're out there.

we both have a passion for music and we spend hours talking about it etc...
amongst many other common interests and attractions..
she will give me critical feedback on my tunes and whats more she would be right in her suggestions.

Your girl HAS to be your best friend, too. If you have nothing in common, there's going to be trouble ahead.

I think the solitary life of a producer just needs a partner that can just leave you the fuck alone to spend time in the lab... then once you're done, go spend time with them...

Thats me anyway... don't really have that much in common with the missus really but i'm teaching her slowly

The best woman I ever dated said to me very explicitly that I needed to get my own time for my own shit... so if I wasn't feeling up for seeing her I'd make my excuses and carry on doing whatever I was doing...

It worked both ways though, because sometimes she needed her space too..
can't concentrate on programming synths when your missus is rattling on about her mates/tv/going out for dinner and blah blah blah
Basically, she wsn't into tv, we went out plenty which I enjoyed, and she kept her mates seperate from our relationship..!!

Give and take.. If she can't handle your passion for production, then maybe she needs to check herself.. But if you can't handle giving attention to someone your meant to be "going out" with, then maybe she should call off the relationship..?? :o

Just my thoughts really....

Girlfriend + work + being in a band + being my own (gigging/rehearsin)) solo (laptop electronica) act' + spinnin the odd tune at bars...

...makes me a dull boy (i.e. production is hard to fit in)

ive taken a week off work next week just to accommodate for finishing a bunch of tunes. i'm actually looking forward to it.

My girlfriend recently moved back to her home country, and is moving to the states the year after. I'm trying to start producing, and even before she moved she really liked the idea of me making music. I'm planning on letting her hear pretty much everything i finish, and although i won't be able to spend holidays and maybe some weekends working on tunes so i can see her, I'll still have time to do it.

Music, my medical degree and her are pretty much all i care about, and they matter enough to me that i will do anything i can to balance them out. You just need to be committed to whatever you do.

And what Two Oh One said about them having to be your best friend, wise words, never seen someone talk so much sense on the internet

I know so many people who have these stupid relationships where each of them resents pretty much everything that the other enjoys doing. It's totally stupid.

I'm really lucky that my girlfriend and I have got loads of common interests and don't mind when the other wants to get on with something personal for a bit. Eg she's quite happy to sit and read and listen while I mess around with beats, even if I'm doing something daft like messing around tweaking a single synth sound for an hour.

My ideal woman would want nothing more than to make tracks, smoke weed, take pills and have unprotected sex.

Im not holding my breath for her. The closest I found is this chick from Scotland.. But, she is in Scotland. Cute as hell though.

I dunno.. I think if you take away "make tracks", it's quite a feasible list and theres probably a couple of chicks i could rig you up with.

Although.... They smell like arse and will give you aids.

Lovers and passion for any type of art is a tough thing to manage in my experience. You have to find that one-in-a-million person who is willing to understand your passion/obsession.
