So all in all I gotta say... Vivek, your label is wicked, but please, no more of this nonsense. You want to avoid Discogs reselling? Just press a large amount of it, have it available at all your usual record shops, and everybody will be happy. My two cents anyway.

I guess the danger of pressing a large amount is if theres problems it could end up costly... and I guess little labels don't have the money to press huge amounts straight off the bat as well as look towards new releases. Smaller runs with regular represses when demand is there is a safer bet and means continuous revenue that can speed up forthcoming releases.. lump all your money on pressing loads of one release and then you'll have to wait til they've sold enough to bring enough money in to fund the next release... long

I hear you Muncey, although in this case it's pretty safe to assume the record is gonna sell well, and in fact it's already sold out... Especially since there's no digital version for sale. I was more referring to the distribution side. Afaik System has a new distro, which is Unearthed. I still don't really understand what the website exclusive thing is about but anyway.

Still happy to finally be able to get my hands on Mere Sher, cannot wait to play it

Nah I'm not saying Asteroids sounds bad, like it's good but I find when I'm mixing, it sometimes sounds a bit quieter than my other records so I have to turn up the gain more, whereas later releases I don't really have this issue

Exactly, if hes invested in other forthcoming releases as well.. thats a huge chunk for someone that presumably does this for a living. 700 copies of this release + all the other costs like artwork and money to Kromestar himself, then investing in other releases then he needs to pay himself a decent wage to live off (again, presumably). To expect viv to press well over 1000 to deal with demand as well as try get the ball rolling on future releases is some serious ask. If he clearly shows intent of repressing people just need patience if they can't buy it straight away.

Do you own it? It isn't great sounding imo, my copy sounds a little flat and I remember others saying the same when it was first released.
Every release since then has sounded amazing though. And yes fortunately that includes Asteroids VIP on SYSTM003!

Yeah, this. People don't always think about all the ingoings and outgoings and how long it can take for everything to get done with regards to vinyl. It's not like System is Warner Bros or something. Everyone moaning needs to cut them some slack, they are trying ffs

Yeah I see what you're saying... getting a little sick of the hand-stamped NO REPRESS hype labels that charge like £10 for a single-sided 12" myself... not much money to be made though if you're only pressing 300 copies so guess it's done for the cool factor I suppose it's a different story though when it's a bootleg / edit / uncleared sample or whatever
