You have questions about studio monitors?

I am interested in buying a pair myself (new here by the way). I've narrowed the choices down to the yamaha HS50, Behringer Truth b3030a, and m-audio BX8 D2s (because they are all in my price range). At the moment im swinging towards the BX8's for the deeper bass response (so i wont need a sub for at least a while), but im worried about quality especially in the mid range, and just how flat the frequency response is.

Any suggestions?

I'm seriously tempted to get the Tannoy Reveal 501a, they seem to be very good for the price and for an entry-level monitor. Has anyone on here used these to produce bass music?

Wanna know if anyone has any good things to say about the esi near 05's as well

Thing is I'm just not sure whether these monitors are good when it comes to producing those ultra low frequencies; but then again I do produce in a small bedroom so even if they arent great at those lower frequencies surely you can hear em enough in a smaller room... or is that just a very flawed justification?

Instead of the Behringer "truth" B2030/B2031 i prefer the B-1030A B-1030A.. the only advantage is that the b2030/31 have the port on the front so if you are just starting to set up a home studio you can find a place for them more easily without having to worry that much about the bass reflections and shit

If you have questions about monitors I recommend going and listening to some in a shop. Hearing them speaks volumes and is like a 1,000 words or something like that. The more you spend, usually the better they are, I like Dynaudio Acoustics BM series for mixing and as a second reference (although the earlier ones (black) and not the MK II as the first versions sound better to my ears) so keep an eye on ebay and grab yourself a second hand bargain.

It is a tricky one if you are starting out because as your ear matures and becomes more diligent you will know what to listen for and what constitutes a good speaker. It can be easy to go for the ones that sound the most hi fi and exciting (deep bass and bright highs). Try and listen with a variety of music not just electronic, this way you can hear how natural timbres of highly complex real instruments sound and how the speaker copes with that information.

Also try and listen to a couple of models out of your price range as you can use that new knowledge in choosing a model within your budget.

Other than that factor in some decent stands, set them up in an equilateral triangle if possible and some basic acoustic treatment.

one quick question, i currently own rokit 8's and arent that keen on em anymore. i want to upgrade and was thinking Adam A7X how much better are these monitors compared to krk's. should i wait and save for a bigger step?

Hey, so I have some Yorkville YSM1P's that I absolutely love. I also have a random polk audio sub that i had from an 90's home theater that I threw into the mix to have that kick punch and the bass boom. I know that the sub isn't a monitor but it'll do for now. My tweeter on the yorkies is spotty right now. I think it has something to do with the XLR cable connector because when i fiddle with it it comes on and off. I sort of want to get them fixed, and I feel like I know these speakers really well, but I feel like I might be better buying new monitors, hopefully ones that sound exactly like these. ugh. thats going to be hard because they don't make new YSM1P's anymore. But they do make YSM6's and YSM8's. They look pretty cool, but I want to know if Yorkville continued their intergrity in regards to making studio monitors. Also, how are their subs? for the future.

I just recieved my KRK VXT8's. Can't wait to test them, but my computer is getting fixed atm, and I'm painting and stuff in my room, so I wont be able to do it before atleast next week.

i have few questions about speakers if one desires to enlighten me.
this is my plan: since budget is short and i'm just a begginer, i want to buy some SH 3-way hifi speakers, for 'monitoring'. i know it will be hard in the beggining but we all have to know our speakers first right? so if i'll know what mines can deliver then i'll be fine.
the real issue i have found is this: ported or non-ported/closed cabinets? i see 99.9% of todays active monitors are ported, for delivering extended bass response in nearfield, but some said the poor designed ports tend to be out of phase.
also what about reflections with these ports? for a bedroom studio, the reflections these ports generate would not be a problem? same question for rear ported cabinets. it means that the bass is sent to rear walls and the spread througout the room. is that good or bad?
i've read on many forums, people say the bass was clearer and tighter after they stuck socks is the ports.

so what should i go for? closed or bass reflex cabinets? i tend to go for closed but strong facts on the bass reflex side might change my mind.
is marketing really full of shit these days?

My active monitors are dual ported, one montor has both blocked and the other has one port blocked... with socks. The manual suggested this due to the fact they're near to a corner and a rear wall. I also have acoustic foam in the corner to help with any build up.

From what I can hear you get slightly less low end but more clarity.
