Im after the sound you hear at the beginning of a large percentage of reggae/dub songs, it's like a lazer sort of ting

For instance, right at the start of this

The sound in Bahl Fwd, the perhaps arpeggiated aggressive wind like instrument (the lead). How is this done, what effects etc. Cheers in advance.

I hope this isn't too stupid a question, but I'm having trouble achieving this sort of dub delay using PC delay plugins. It's at 1:05 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FCbfxmwd-A

I have Fabfilter Timeless, but haven't been able to figure out how to get this random bouncing ball effect heard in a lot of the Echospace stuff. I know these guys are all about analog hardware, but I'm hoping it's possible to recreate this sort of delay on a PC, because I'm broke.

The horns in logic pro are alright. Give them a high velocity and they make that law farty sound. Boost the bass and it sounds nice :)

Sounds like octaves to me ?

this is in nearly every Dub/reggae sample pack on the net.

It is just something pitched up with some FX but you can find the sample everywhere.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

just need to play around with the delay unit I think! Loads of feedback with a short number of steps/MS.

I am guessing but I think it is using FM synthesis and/or a comb filter?

Has a hollow and digital sound.

Great example here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeB8CMD3RgA

Starts around 4:23.

I've had a go but everytime I try it ends up sounding just muffled and unclear. I'm guessing beautiful hardware may be involved :(

I'm more interested in the effects, rather than how to make the initial pads.
Anyone?
Sounds like either the same pad octaves apart so you got the bottom end and some top end sparkle. I think it sounds like they are panning at different times to give it some movement.

Could be two different pads or more.

They made that on Reason 3 if I remember correctly. Sounds like a couple of basic waveforms with the attack up and FX!

Anyone know how to make the weid static noise that comes in at the same time as the sub on Kryptic Minds - Six degrees? It first ocurs at around 56 seconds.

Pretty awesome idea!

Been trying to produce a sound that's similar to the one in the beginning of Halogen - Cluekid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq8YdHDrSn8

Has a reggae-ish sound too it, wouldn't know what to call it. Any info/adivce would help.
thanks

Sounds like a HP waveform with some wobble.
