Hey I know everyone says it's preference but some reason and it has always been bugging me that Ableton is just truly better. It seems like the sound engineering/built-in plugins have more customibility...if that's a word.

But my question is if I can use stuff like SoundGoodizer/EQUO in Ableton(No I don't use SoundGoodizer but just an example)

Do I just find the .dll file and drag and drop into the Ableton VST folder or something? I'm totally guessing.

And if what I'm asking for is Rewiring then shit I don't know how to Rewire.

yes all the simple vsts work such as all the (fruity " " ) whatever, but those are just the ones with basic black squares with knobs, im not sure about the ones that have graphics like reverb2, delay bank, etc..

vst plugins wont work. sytus for example, youll need to buy the vst version from them for something like that

How about Grossbeat? . My most important thing I use for production

If you actually bought GrossBeat, you can download it as a VST for use in Ableton...I'm pretty sure.

Sorry if waste thread to some people but i thought this was interesting.
At first look i though it was arrangement view, then i saw the mixer db meters with the yellow activators buttons, so it looks like session view.

but what are those colored squares? i though it was just the clips zoomed in but at least to my knowledge you cant stretch them vertically and it looks like a waveform instead of the clip name!

1. Can you stretch clips vertically and load the waveforms instead of the clip name showing
or
2. can you have the mixer showing the same time as arrangement view.

Somebody posted an interesting thread on the internal contents of the Ableton Live file format yesterday and the ability to version control it with git/github and a python script. The thread has vanished now for some reason? Any ideas? As far as I can tell it was completely legitimate and legal and relevant to the Production forum.

Kind of confused with your question, maybe bounce to audio then convert to midi? You can play segments of your audio file in a MIDI format using that.

Hey guys. Really basic question here but I've come from FL studio and one of the great perks was that I could easily add effects, e.g reverb on a vocal.
Within Ableton, I can't find a way to add such effects. When I put in a sample, I seem to have only a few choices, those being warp and being able to change the pitch and volume among a few other things.

I'm loving the possibilities of Ableton so far but where can I add effects?

you just drop a reverb onto the track, and adjust to taste, or you can drop reverb onto a return track and use the channels send, all of ableton's effects synth's etc, can be found by clicking the second button down from under the button in the top left hand corner which is labeled "tap", reverb is in the audio effects folder

that's how you dj in ableton, you drop tracks into the session view like in the photo you posted, then you warp them so they'll be in time, it has it's own crossfader and you can add shortcuts to eq and all that kind of thing.

you can't stretch any clip in ableton vertically, if you notice in session view you can put one clip right below another on the grid.. this might be why you think it's being stretched vertically.. you stack all your tracks like that so you know what order to play them in etc..

ableton shows everything you need to see in session view while djing, including the mixer and more.

yeah i know i use session view, but those lines in those colored squares resemble waveforms so thats why i was dumbfounded. he might just possibly have a bollocks of miniture sized clips with the same title making the illusion of a solid line (waveform).

do the inbult tutorials, basic stuff like this is all covered. look in the help menu section.

key in on the track volumes. they will show you how he has his tracks stretched in session view.

does anyone know why i can hear a click (like the one you get on a sub when you have no attack or release) when i use sidechain compression everytime it kicks in, iv tried messing with the attack and release on the compressor to no avail
help??

yeah probably because of how quickly you're trying to work the compressor, i'm guessing the threshold is down quite low with a quick attack time?

you may be right, i normally have the threshhold low so ill play around with it

show me the compressor settings?

but if there's a click because of a sidechained compressor that's the reason, take sidechain off and i'm guessing the click goes away?
