No doubt and :W: , but also the almost mandatory furniture like aspects a deck holds these days atleast in my neck of the woods... throat of the forrest and what that does to music

The problem there is you're not going to proper record shops

i love vinyl as much as the next guy, but the sound quality difference is 99% of the time placebo.
the only actual difference in sound quality to be found happens when the mastering engineer puts more effort into the master for a vinyl release. but the opposite can also happen and you get SHIT masters for vinyl (looking at you haymaker / revolution)

serato is pretty much the most versatile setup going tho youre right

Deep down we all know what the reason for playing vinyl is and it has nothing to do with sound

Yeah, good point... I can confidently say that Om-Unit's most comfortable mixing style has to be through wax...

My Rashad Becker and Matt Coulton mastered records definitely wipe the floor sonically with most random digital only releases.

Also shit on my hard drive just gets lost super fast. Always spot records on my shelf to listen to.

I know what you're on about, but for me, it's easier to mix on vinyl than CDJ's, probs cos they're just bigger

This. How poorly organised is your digital music that so many people say they just lose stuff haha?

not a criticism, it's just such an engrained part of the industry that people can't let it go

non specialist record shops are full of the same old dad rock records tho
this b2b the collective fawning over the same super entry level bands

as for the death of albums, meh plenty of times i've found myself liking only one or two tunes off an album (but in all fairness i think that happened more with electronic music albums - or "albums") so having a few mp3 files is better than getting stuck with a bunch of records. i get artistic intent and all that but sometimes you just don't like the thing.
double edged sword tho. with some records it took like 15 listens to fully get into it or listening to it once and not touch it again for 2 years

this would only be an issue if youre downloading from torrents or filesharing sites where things arent labelled properly with id3 tags or correct file names

its probably just what im used to but the lack of resistance when moving the pitch faders on cdjs alwasy fucks me. end up doing huge jumps in pitch rather than small adjustments

just means you can play digi on turntables

i won't use it in a club ever again though, had a few technical difficulties with it and now i'll only use USB/vinyl.

That plus you actually have to think of what you want to listen to. I don't think I'd remember what I bought 10 years ago where as I can see all the records I have next to me now.

I dunno man, for me, just scrolling through some tunes in a folder is just as easy, if not easier, than flipping through hundreds of records.

All about organisation & preparation with both mediums

Good usb/cd wallet layout is as important as packing the right 12"s in a rough order/group

I can mix so much quicker on vinyl tho
