@MTL6: There's times when you think you've done something good, and then there's times when you listen to shit like that that shows you you're not the only one with a unique set of sounds . Great, I loved it. Only thing I'd say is bring the sub levels of the kick down a little.

@CYRHEN: Kind of boring... The drop could bring it back up but you need some sub. Try adding a groovy sub line under those midrange basses. And not just a straight root note, I mean something that will really compliment those other wubs.

@LIGHTSHAPERS: Shit was tight, intro could use some thickening, but the drop was cool so it's alright. The vocal had me hooked. I like the little fading effect you put on the bass at one part.

@Chad damn it goes hard. The mix is pretty good, I would boost the volume of the hats just a lil to get it grooving a little bit more. I would also shift everything (melody, 808 bass) down a semitone or two after every 4 bars to give it that evil kinda vibe you know. Nice work though

on a lighter note haha, here's a rough sketch of something I started today, looking for a vocalist- anyone good at singing/rapping? looking for feedback/ideas where to go from here

Long time, no post, feedback for others:

@LUNCHPADDLE: I like the drums in this and the variation keeps it interesting. I don't really like the padish synth that comes in over the top though at some points. As the track progresses it gets a bit repetitive, but that's just me. Overall it's a pretty cool track and the mix sounds nice, it sounds like it could definitely be in a soundtrack haha.

@mtl6: I feel like I know this "sound", it's like a trap/80's/chiptune hybrid haha. I like the chords but they get repetitive on they're own, even with the melody - perhaps add another layer on top of them at some point. I think you need to boost the transient on the kick, or at least allow it more space in the mix so it punches through harder. Hats and claps are nice, but perhaps could use some reverb.

@CYRHEN: Not available.

@lightshapers: Nice synth work, the basses are nice but I think the drums are a little muddy, clean them up a little but keep that punchiness. Overall this is pretty cool and the vocals add to the style. I like the break and build but the drop sounds a little weird after that stuttered bit, idk that's just me.

This is a few snippets of ideas I've been working on for a new track but I'm struggling to actually make the track structure... hence the chopped snippets. Any feedback on the overall sounds would be good (hasn't been properly mixed yet).

mthrfnk The kick in the intro sounds a bit weird to me, idk why.It's very well mixed, very clear and comes through nicely, but I think there's too much high end in it? The second snippet (probably the breakdown/buildup) is the best imo. Very nice vocal chopping in this section!! Love the note spacing in the third piece. Overall, nice work like usual, maybe tune down the reverb just a very very tiny bit.

LUNCHPADDLE When I pressed play the first thing that came to mind was tribal chants haha. I like how it has the ambience of being inside a cave! The transition into the next section is very nicely done too! You may wanna bring the clap out just a little more. A bit repetitive, but very nice idea nonetheless!

mtl6 Snare/clap is way to loud imo. The high ends in it hurt my ears after a while. Very nice synthpop feel though. I think the bassline needs more weight imo but other than that I like it, its really calm driving music!


Just finished this, kind of rushed the mixdown though. thoughts on the vocals? I like them but at the same time I don't (wat). Depending on the feedback I get, I may just remove them and leave this tune as an instrumental or something.

@dotcurrency (ripped it out of me) nice chill intro, i dig the vocals, but i could see it as an instrumental also, nice sub/drums, i like the lead and 8-bit arp, is the sub an 808 bassdrum? either way if you added a bit more i could see no vocals or keep some but either way its a dope tune. nice.

@spectrafunk (open the ocean) nice kick! very clean, really dig part 2, nice pad/lead, this is the driving section! heh strings are dope too. all in all put it all together and you have a very nice sounding song. i cant pick on anything production wise.

@lunchpaddle(anteater) cool atmospherics at the start, and percussion, chill! actuallly cool atmo all over. ahhh it dropped then stopped right away i wanted it to keep going ah here it goes again. this track has a very nice feel to it. very mild and chill. structure is solidddddd. very good production all around!

@mtl6 - can't help myself remix - intro is epic. loving that vocal sample. the bass after the drop sounds a bit out of tune. i think a lot of the elements in the drop, particularly the vocal samples are over-compressed and thus the emphasis of the drop is lost slightly.

@spectrafunk - i would structure it 2nd part as the intro, which drops into the 3rd snippet and which would interchange with the 1st snippet every few bars. you'll just have to figure out how to transition the two without it sounding like 2 different songs. maybe keep some elements which are constant.
young and beautiful remix - loving the piano in the intro, is that played in or a sample? i love these slow and chilled out tunes. think the sub could definitely be brought out a bit more and would have liked a kick with a little more low end personally. but loving the melody and the way the song progresses

@dotcurrency - ripped it out of me - really nice tune, reminds me of some early joker or guido tunes. dunno why but i think the vocal sample sounds really out of place in the build up, maybe some bits are slightly out of tune or not in time, but it does perfect with the main body of the tune.

@cmgoodman1226 - subject matter - this tune is right up my street. really like the slow intro and how new elements are introduced every couple bars. bass in the drop is sick. the kick needs eqing as right now, you can't tell it apart from the bass, unless that's the effect you are going for. i think the snare/clap could do with beefing up a bit and a bit more reverb on the hats as the highs sound a little empty to me

@sjscar - no help - really like the glitchy vibe of the whole song. but i think the synth in the intro doesn't really fit with the overall vibe. the snares and hats can definitely be brought out a little bit. sample work is very nice

Nice track mistayif, the intro is great, love that shaker. Mixdown is on point i reckon,but those vocals could do with a little more reverb (or light delay or something) to help blend them in with the rest of the track a bit more

mistayif- very nice track. good vibes, mix sounds tight. i think maybe you could expand on the chord progression on the intro... maybe change the chords a bit to give it a lil more emotion. really nice though keep up the good work

dotcurrency- love the intro melody. perfect sample selection. mix sounds good to me. love the subbass too, simple and fits with the arp nicely. can't even think of any constructive feedback, i say keep the vocals and finish this tune!

mpmpm- intense haha. this style's not my cup of tea but it is produced well. I think the kick could use a little more weight. the snare is perfect i just want the kick to slap, ya know. sweet synthesis!

jesus, anyway.. ive been working on a possible EP release.. i really wanna get back into my minimal/downtempo dubstep production shit and i thought, who better to give me an opinion than you lot!!

reptile: love the vibes and atmosphere + pads + vocal - the only thing that I don´t like is the mixdown bass/drums - i would prefer louder/more solid drum and a heavy sidechain - but i guess that´s a matter of taste

@chaddub - mate you've gotten a lot better since I used to post here regular. Not a trap fan, but it's made very well. I think the sub is just a tad too loud. Also love the irregular beat breaks that sound like a vinyl skipping. Good stuff.

@dotcurrency - those vocals sit really nicely, pitched up a few notes are they? Solid production, nice and clean. Really can't fault it tbh. Nice track - followed. I agree with a comment above, it would also be very nice as an instrumental.

@mistayif - man what's happened on these forums, everyone pushing out some cool shit. Lovely man, that snare in particular stands out to me, really nice sound and colour to it. I'm also a huge fan of the snare on the 4th hehe. Also followed

@lunchpaddle - lovely man, but that kick is tickling me in the wrong spot. lol. Nice progression, melodic stabs and percussion arrangement.
