Well, does it mean anything substantial? As far as I can see its just a smug word that fun-feminist blogger types like to attach to RNB songs they like to hamfistedly fit them into their ideology. Theres no rules to what is and isnt "sex positive" really.
"Anaconda" was this big sex-positive revelation even tho it's the same type of booty song/video we've had for ages, because being against something that's attached to the youth, like booty rap, is too much to bear for these stnuc. Modern equivalent of christians trying to fit rock bands into christianity.
it's not that I even have a problem with that song or booty rap of course.

'sex-positive' is just something which encourages all forms of sexual activity including outside of relationships, with an emphasis on safe sex.Harkat wrote:Well, does it mean anything substantial? Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
afaik the "sex-positive" people just defend the idea of not judging people based on their sexual pleasures and preferences, as long as everything they do with their partner(s) is based on mutual consent? some blogspot people appropriating the name doesn't make the idea a bad one...Harkat wrote:Theres no rules to what is and isnt "sex positive" really.

are they very evangelical about it? I thought it was more a live and let live thing.scherou wrote:'sex-positive' is just something which encourages all forms of sexual activity including outside of relationships, with an emphasis on safe sex.

'sex-positive' reminds me of those people waiting to get into a club in that sketch on Monkey Dust

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
yeah it is a live and let live thing mainly. i think basically what they say is that there should be no 'rules' to sex apart from having safe sexjrkhnds wrote:are they very evangelical about it? Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
Well you see certain songs, artists, films, porn etc called "sex positive" by gawker.com (and that culture in general) etc all the time right. It's framed as this empowering reclamation of sex that goes against patriarchal puritanism AND 2nd wave feminist strictness. It's getting to frame something you enjoy (and thus yourself) as subversive based on NOTHING. It's such bullshit.
jezebel.com: 12 reasons why Chief Keef - Love No Thotties Might Be The Feminist Anthem of The Century (explained in GIFs)
that kind of thing like.
Even though I don't necessarily agree with them I have 100% more respect and sympathy for granola lesbian type second wave "grumpy" feminists than the modern kind. They at least aren't so dependent on being cool, and have some conviction.

Sometimes I think (hope) Jezebel is satire. Always disappointed.
Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
idk sounds like a good thing, thought the idea was women enjoying and using their sexuality like men do and not having it used by men for entertainment
ie dressing how they want, porn that doesn't end with a dick 2 the eye, not being called sluts for enjoying sex
but i feel you on the blog element, is miley cyrus/nicki minaj actually working for feminism or is she doing exactly what her sleazy male management is planning

you read jezebel.com and afterwards call a concept introduced in the first half of the 1900s by a well-respected socioligist "one of the most retarded [...] ever" without having done any research about it, trusting mainly Gawker's (etc.) interpretation.
sounds well retarded imo.
