glad to see an anime topic here, nice.

been watching anime for about 1-1,5 years. my recommendations:

Cowboy Bebop
Mushishi
Tengen Toppa Gurrenn Lagann
Haibane Renmei
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Death Note
Elfen Lied
NHK ni Youkoso!
Samurai Champloo
FLCL (j-rock isn't my thing but I love the soundtrack)
+
Ghibli movies
Mindgame (movie, a psychedelic one)

I'm currently watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and it's crackin' me up. Probably the funniest anime i've seen. Definitely worth to watch.

Anyone seen Crest of the Stars? Thinkin' about starting it soon.

I don't watch too much Anime, but I enjoy a good one every once in awhile...

Big fan of Cowboy Bebop myself, it passes the time quite nicely :)

Excellent list. Mushishi really is superb isn't it, it's like the Aesop's Fables of the anime world. Some really good lookin tips on there as well. NHK Youkoso looks excellent, had never heard of it before you mentioned it, i love 'real world' animes where people talk 'normally' so it looks well up my street. Will also hook up Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Big up.

Extreme FAGGOTRY.

The _only_ thing I approve of is the new First of the North Star movies. They are fucking sick, mans killing up little kids and shit HEAVY. I cannot stand any of this fucking shit about little ninja kids saving the world and shit. None of that bullshit please.

Thanks!
True - Mushishi is one unique anime. I've never seen anything like it. I also remember how great it was to watch it. When I started it, I remember thinkin' "how laid back a serie can be?" 10+.

NHK ni Youkoso is a superb serie as well. Lovin' everything in it, especially supercute Misaki-chan haha.

I should probably watch more Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei so I could make a proper statement (watched 6 episodes so far). But it has been great. 9+.

What ongoing series are you guys watchin'? Any good ones going on besides Clannad?

Got a good tip for anyone interested.

Baccano. It's a relatively short (13 eps) series telling a story which jumps back and forth over the course of 3 years and tells a story from the many characters points of view as the stories cross over. It was a bit baffling first ep because of the sheer number of characters but am on episode 9 now and am completely hooked. It's got a heavy balance of jokes, intriguing narrative and violence (coz deep down we all like a bit of animated violence).

that rebuild of evangelion is deep. new scenes, updated animation and graphics. clearer storyline. recommended for anyone who missed or couldn't get into the original series.

Cool will check it. Sometimes the shorter series are better and more concentrated like 'Now and Then, Here and There', 'Paranoia Agent' etc.

this is very true. Elfen Lied being the perfect example of this.

Oh, and speak of the devil/Diclonius...

They're up to the 9th DVD of Freedom Project in Japan. Here's hoping for a western release.
