@mike741: it's certainly not bad for a first attempt, the drums were OK, they weren't spectaculary good but i've heard alot worse. I like your sub, it's nice flowing. Your lead or whatever it is, there's something wrong there bro :p it sounds out of tune and just doesn't sound right at all, i'd go for a whole other melody and sound.
Overall a good first attempt still.

@Mypassgone: I loved your intro, idk what you're complaining bout that you're not good at producing. The way you brought your lead bass in could've been better, but once it's up and going it's very nice aswell. Can't really fault the song , there's some places where your sub and lead don't really match in wobble rate but that's all i can really hear that could need some improvement. Some equalizing overall couldn't hurt either but you've got something here!
PS: nice drums :p

And my WIP is a remix of Laurent Wolf's No Stress, I never saw a dubstep remix of this one, so I tried one myself:

Needs overall equalizing and mastering but it's pretty much finished ;)

sounds alright, kick might benefit from a bit more impact or presence (seems flabby for me perhaps it;s cause it's hidden), could try first a bit of 'turn other elements down' or failing that compression on it to tighten it (some muddyness, try less reverb or atleast a little more hpf on the reverbs/delays?).

First of all good take on the style, really got the vibe but maybe your snare is too punchy. It's okay to have a "nice cracking punch in the face" snare but in my opinion it stands just a little a bit too much. And also I would add a REALLY tiny amout of reverb on this one as well but very little just to have that airy kind of feeling which goes well with the vibe of your bass pattern.

Hey guys, been producing (and never really finishing) stuff for about 4 - 5 months now.

See what you think :)

Edit - Obviously a very young work in progress as I'm still new to this stuff and learning lots as I go.

Cheers :)

Started workin on this nasty little synth using multiple layers of sytrus in flstudio, like all my synths. This is very short and basically testing out what i can do with the bass synth. Gonna develop it into a full song soon.

I dedicate this to my brother who lost his job

@Unitedfruits: seems like your the hang of how to make a good bass. The melody and the way your bass moves could be abit more in flow with your drums, but thats just a minor flaw. Work on your drums, be sure the eq them good, choose fine samples and not low quality ones. Dubstep is all about your bass and your drums, when one of the two is lacking your song's gonna be way less than it could be. Overall not too bad song :)

@jstick: very Borgore-like ;) i think the high freq in your bass needs some extra sharpness, maybe turn your sub down a tad, not too much, it's kinda dominating too much. Also get a decent sound on the synth in the background, I feel like I'm in some kind of epic movie or something :P
Loved the sound of the bass, stick to it!

I'm still looking for some feedback on my remix of No Stress :

You have very nice drum pattern here but it would be instesting if you'd put some effects in it just make it even more interesting. Like little sweeps or even a real snare with a bit of reverb would add a little bit of punch. Also the vocal sample you use in the begining could have a place in the second pattern with the bass, creating some sort of effortless continuity.

Great work on the drum pattern I like it. Reminds be a bit of Skream or Benga kind of pattern.

agree with hellomadame, nice drum patterns. To me this sounds like a great foundation, build some stuff on top of it. I would like to hear a nice synthline or something.

Maaan, that hi-hat pattern is nice. Vocal stab is also good.
Another snare/rim shot would go nice. Or a clap, come to think of it. Big verb'd up clap would be awesome.
A string-sounding pad would compliment it nicely, I reckon

Just an into for now, but I'm wondering if I should split the bass and stick some sub under it?
And anyone got an idea for a hook or lead? 'Cos I've tried various styles of sounds but nothing's really working.

I think you should keep the bass the way it is right now but add the sub right after the tune drops. I think it would create a nice effect of fatness. That's maybe my personnal taste but I constantly here bits of bass automation that could really fit well in your pass pattern making it more alive. For the hook ... depends on how creative you are :). Have you tried singing out loud a lead then finding the notes ? I do that all the time for my bass pattern (I look of course a bit akward but it really helps me figure it out).

Hope I helped you :D !
