Scuba saying that was a perfect example of sometimes how some producers seem to live in this detached world from the fans. Even the producers that do interact with us on here.

But yeh, last time I check not every adjective used to describe a certain style of music automatically becomes a bullshit subgenre.
What is a subgenre if not a certain style within an established genre? Yes I know putting labels on things is lame, but that's exactly what this thread has done. I'm not saying I don't like the tunes, just think of a name that doesn't make it sound like some kind of teenage-boy-soggy-biscuit-fest please.

I dunno, to me this is the closest to the original half-step sound there is now days, so if there must be sub-genres it certainly shouldn't apply to this. The 'dungeon sound' is just a term that regular Yunx & Toast listeners will recognise, no one's trying to make it an official tagline for this stuff, we're not thick (Scuba :W: ).

Exactly, if someone asked me what I play I wouldn't say 'Dungeon', its just describing how something sounds, like you'd say a track sounds dubby, or techy or something.

I'm going to check that out, I have yet to find a way to beat match anything with that Science track despite it being fucking massive, maybe if I had Dr. Hugo's track that would be a good follow up, but then I arrive at the same place.

Feeling the creation of this thread. Not a big fan of the term 'dungeon' tho but I understand it. (If that makes sense)

Very nice thread here !

J:Kenzo set on GD last week was totally up the alley of the 'dungeon' sound, check it. Big producer, Big Dj.

Lots of great tunes in this thread, the fact that I'm now frequently playing quality tunes from producers that were unknown a year ago makes me very optimistic about the future of Dubstep.

I don't mind the term Dungeon Sound, for me anyway it fits when I describe what I play to people in the Midwestern United States who think Skrillex and Bassnectar are the be all/end all of Dubstep. If I tell people I play "Deep" they more or less associate that term with Deep House and misunderstand me.
