This thread is too too funny. I don't understand what everyone's so up in arms about. Dubstep is a commercial mainstream music now days. Is what it is. Always going to be people looking to make money off of something popular. Hence the awards. This thread has highlighted several things to me:

1. The first thread I saw in the UKF forum was 'stop calling dubstep, dub' and it was stickied. Fucking props for that.
2. DnBA is still as funny as ever.
3. People still screw about absolute inevitabilities.

Somethings I think we can have a sweepstake on:
1. This event will have something akin to an old school dubstep room, and that's where the decent music will be (if at all).
2. 20-30 quid a ticket GARANS.
3. more mcs than necessary for 12 nights will be present.
4. winners will have someone that no one on this forum gives two shits about.
5. the night will be capacity and aggy as fuck.
6. more screech than sub.
7. magnetic man live pa.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

street_legal wrote:I think the majority of 'dubstep' you hear nowadays is just pop with a heavier bassline. Genuinely not interested in going to an awards show for a genre of music that's been hijacked by everyone and their mother. I'd much rather go to DMZ or FWD anyway, birminghams been done out

Rinse vs fwd was a brilliant night in birmingham and that was a couple weeks ago..... and birmingham has alot of amazing talent too!

Its not a bad thing to like something that is popular. People just sound like they think they are in a league above everyone else on here imo... before anyone jumps on me, im not saying its everyone... there's the odd nice person on here :-P

Good luck to you boys, im sure you will put all your effort into making the event the best you can make it :-)

reminds me of bassmans bash a few years ago, and the tiny side room at custard was playing old skool jungle. best place to be for the whole night the atmosphere was immense. I just think its a shame that when it comes to dubstep, the subs get pushed to the side in favour of 'filth'.

the last decent night out music wise i had in brum was at boxed last year. i don't even know who was DJ'in but the place was almost empty and the bass was sooooo deep. I just bought a can of redstripe and bassfaced the night away. I don't think the nights in brum are promoted well enough though. either that or I'm always looking the other when the flyer gets passed out, who knows....

i reckon it will definately cover all aspects of dubstep, maybe even a bro-step category, and a cheese-step category lol
probably drumstep tunes would be at d&b awards????? not sure.

the point to make is that anyone can throw an awards night. as plastician said, its not WHO throws an awards night, but WHY and HOW its thrown. do it right, or don't do it. and if you're doing it for money, tell people that. don't fuss about with marketing or damage control.

Hey Guys!!

Thanks again for all the comments and feedback.

As we keep saying, we're honestly not doing the awards for money. It's to showcase the excellent talent the genre has!

Everyone who works hard deserves to be rewarded. The DMAs are simply a way for the fans to reward the people who put the hard work in and make the scene what it is. We feel people put their hearts and souls in to creating Dubstep and the scene it lives in, whatever element they bring! - We're going to be no different, our hearts and souls will be in this event and the awards! The roots of Dubstep will play a core and fundamental part in the whole awards, catagories and event. We'll be celebrating every aspect of Dubstep! :)

Creating an event such as an awards ceremony can be seen as a money making opportunity to some, however, proving this to not be the case can be easy... Come along to the first awards and see how much fun you have and just how much passion we've put in to the event! - We don't do things by halves and we certainly wouldn't attempt such an event without our minds/hearts/souls firmly set on creating the perfect celebration of Dubstep.

Once again, we really do appreciate your feedback and all of your comments.

We'll be releasing Categories and more information on dates etc shortly... Keep checking in!! :W:

People are too quik to hate, this will attract young brosteppers but will also help boost the popularity of deep artists

You reckon?? Surely if its an awards ceremony it should be the winners that are playing. with the way the voting will go itll be all brosteppers winning. Therefore will be a shed load of brosteppers playing...........imo.

1) Who are the promotion teams behind this, and what events have they previously been involved with?

2) What are the categories?

3) Will Timbaland be getting Lifetime Achievement?
