Re: Bitwig Release Date and Price Set 4realz
really like the introduction of "chaos" into the velocity changes. also it looks really nice, i like that the browser is on the right side. really stoked for the collaboration stuff and the whole idea of it being "open source" at the point as well.

Dude, lemme tell you, every daw has promised online collaboration since the beginning of the Internet and daws. Doesn't work dude... Just doesn't work.

Yep, this is the one reason I'm interested. I'll definitely buy it if/when this is implemented well.ChromaRhythm wrote:m8son wrote:i dont see what the big uproar is can it do anything other daws can't?
You can collab with other producers on 1 project over the internet.....so me & you can collab in real-time if we both have bit-wig.
Sorry but where did you get this from? I've not heard anything about Logic/FL/Live implementing simultaneous users? I don't really keep up to date (FL 9.1 til I die, probably) but I'm pretty sure this will be a unique feature when it's implemented.nowaysj wrote:Dude, lemme tell you, every daw has promised online collaboration since the beginning of the Internet and daws. Re: Bitwig Release Date and Price Set 4realz
Image Line already implemented it, didn't work.
Bonus points if you can remember the name.

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
Live 9 was so disappointing that I'm going to get this as a protest.
I mean it took Ableton 3 years to release 9 and what did they do? Change the shade of the GUI and re-design the dynamics processors slightly. Oh, and put a visualiser on the EQ. They poured all their attention into Push, which is amazing, granted, but I can't afford it + the live 9 suite (£1000+!!). It just doesn't seem worth it. I can get one of those Novation controllers and get a custom mapping and it would do the same for half the price.

The Novation controllers are crap, the automap has to create another version of every VST that you use it for. And the software was really buggy when I tried it.karmacazee wrote:I can get one of those Novation controllers and get a custom mapping and it would do the same for half the price.
The Nektar Panorama P1, P4 and P6 are looking awesome and have custom maps for a lot of common plugins, plus they're working with Bitwig to make it super integrated. They're expensive though, but you get what you pay for - this is the closest you can get to a hardware synth without actually owning the hardware.

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
Novation is great. You don't need automap to use the devices anyway. Live even has remote scripts you can write.
Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
So... it's great because you don't have to use automap?RmoniK wrote:Novation is great. You don't need automap to use the devices anyway. Live even has remote scripts you can write.
And Live has user remote scripts for most controllers, and you can write your own. Some of us don't really want to get into that though, personally I just like stuff that works without fuss.
Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
If that's a motorized fader I'm gonna cum.
Oh lawdy. Why not 16 pads though, fuck.
The 61 key is 600 bucks but you get a lot of shit.
On topic, I'm pretty excited for Bitwig. Hopefully the stiff competition drives lots of innovation.
One thing I'm looking forward to is tagging in the browser. Great for building a sound library.

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
Yeah it has a motorized fader, always on the selected track in the DAW, also with the dedicated mute and solo buttons. I haven't had the opportunity to try one out yet, but from what I've seen in the videos it's looking really nice.
Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
You can't forget bout all the new slice to midi functions though, those are pretty sweet. But all in all I agree with what you're saying, it was way overhyped and ultimately a letdown, I have 9 but still use 8 just for the sheer fact that 9 isn't really that stable IMOkarmacazee wrote:Live 9 was so disappointing that I'm going to get this as a protest.

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
Well that was my point: the default mappings are great (WITHOUT automap), especially for the zero sl mkii and the launchpad. I never even need remote scripts or automap to be honest, i can do everything i need with just clever midi routing, and what pulls novation over the line here is how affordable it is.Simulant wrote:So... it's great because you don't have to use automap?RmoniK wrote:Novation is great. Bitwig looks kind of cool. I wonder what the introductory price will be.

Thanks, it wouldn't let me go to that page on my own because I hadn't been invited :/
Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
Not sure if this has been posted already but it's got a pretty good overview some features.

12 pads, I asked the same question its to keep it chromatic. If I wanted chromatic, Id use the keyboard!SunkLo wrote: Oh lawdy. Why not 16 pads though, fuck.
I had an hours hands on with bitwig + Nektar controller at the AtoD Music Expo in Exeter this weekend. All I can say is that it will change the scene! Its amazing. I'm not a particular DAW fanboy. I used logic the most, but recently been using ableton exclusively. Everything that annoys me about ableton has been added. I asked a lot of questions, and got some golden replies. You can see the plugins chain ala logic in the mixer. The mixer and arranger can be split to two monitors. You can see 'layers' of midi and audio and see them all in one editing window (the audio overlays in the background) so you can time up hits to audio or vice versa. The layers reminded me of when you make audio visible/invisible like protools on the left hand side of PT.
Urm, my memory is crappy but theres lots of things you can do like per note automation and expression like VST3s capabilities in Cubase. But currently only with their own plugins. It will run 32 AND 64 bit plugins within the same 64bit project (suck it logic x). You can have multiple sessions open at once and bitwig will adapt and only use the one at the forefront to save CPU/Ram ect...
I cant think of anything else. Any questions I'll try my best to respond.
Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW
That vid is a little disheartening. I'll still demo!
