@FAARE FACED
Breakdown at 1:24 leads to loss of energy and makes the first part of the drop less significant, you had a whole minute of energy building up and then you dismiss it all with the breakdown.

"Btw, VDUB1 Impact 04.wav, I see what you did there"

Yeah :D, I also have snares from that pack layered at the drop.

@Kongret - i love the melody in that intro, digital world-like. drops hard too, that deep ass growl is dope. Could definitely be cool with female vocals, especially at like 1:38

@Sherrick - find yourself a rapper! this is dope haha, so bassy

@StratosFear - This sounds like a wonderful trance intro, i feel like its missing a "bassline" persay

Heres my WIP

This is just the intro, planning on adding some bass next, but just wanted some opinions and suggestions!

@Skerrick: The mix is not terrible. The sub/808 thing could probably be turned down. You could try making your tune not be as repetetive. it just sound unclimatic and repetetive.

@Kongret: That is really solid mix. Drums sound good in the mix. I would work on making your bass sounds wider. They kind of sound Mono. All in all it is a solid mix .

@Elyhess: The drums could be louder. With music like that the snare should be right in your face. It is still a pretty cool tune and i can tell you got the idea, the mix could use some more ear candy when it drops. It sound empty and unfinished.

dont know if youve made/listened to many rap beats before.. but you gotta leave some room for the artist to vocalise.. thanks for the criticism anyway?
but ive recorded some guys rapping over this, and it sounds delightful. cant wait to release the full tune. :D

@elyhess: sick tune bro. digging it. love the filtering on the kicks at the start, this has more of a hard house vibe to it though.. but i digg it. :D

@yoitsfrankd: man i like what you have going on here. really bro-ey. but its technical and i can see (hear) the intricacies youve used. good work.

I liked it the overall tune. The drop near the end there was really weak though. Bring that snare up a tad and make it more in your face and you got a rockin' tune! :t:

Gotta go to work, will comment on more later :)

@skerrick - the bass sounds really good - i might cut the reverb on everything except the snare a bit - at least at the beginning bc it sounded a little overbearing (snare sounds tight with it tho). When the track comes back in at 0:54 i might make the part that plays in a higher register it was sort of fighting for the spectrum with the bass' reverb. The timing seemed a little off too - not sure if it was because of the delay/reverb or not.

@Kongret
When the track drops at around 0:40 is pretty tight man. I would cut some of the reverb on the bass or increase its stereo profile to bring it further to the front - it is really tight sounding so dont let it hide in the back! Your drums seem very well mixed.

@FAARE FACED
Nice sounding pads at the beginning - i always have difficulty picking the right pads so thats definitely something i can respect lol. Your bass drops sound dope as hell! Do you mind if i ask what you used to make your bass/if you are layering a sub on it? Your drums sound good but i feel like they should stand out a bit more - maybe layering a clap with some stereo/reverb over your snare? I noticed that a lot of Noisia's kicks dont really have a huge low end presence on tracks like these as well so maybe taking your kick up a bit in the frequency spectrum would help it stand out. A little more presence in the higher end of the spectrum would do alot to keep the track sounding interesting during your massive drops - human ears get tired really quickly if the 200-1k portion of the spectrum is too overbearing.

@ Eye-siC
Your intro seems a bit to ambient from 0:28 - 0:40 - doesnt really seem to build or release tension - just sort of seems like a bit of filler between the first part and the part leading up to the drop. Your drop sounds pretty good, though. I was having a difficult time figuring out what the time signature was during the intro - but when the track drops at 6/8 it brings it all together. Love me some 6/8 :). The only thing i would suggest is to keep the precussion going during the last 3 bars (when the higher melody is playing ie 0:59 to 1:03. 6/8 gives songs a cool jogging sort of feeling but you the rhythm sort of fades when you cut the percussion.

@Burgeamon
Please for the love of god tell me you plan on adding a part where the slice from 1:26-1:27 repeats for a whole bar - that would sound tight as hell lol. Your arrangement is looking pretty solid IMO - the only other thing i might suggest is taking the BPM up a bit but that is just my opinion - i think it would give the track a lot more energy. Im sure this will sound pretty tight once you get everything mixed

@skerrick (again lol - this is the one you posted on Sat 11/10)
This is a bit to ambient for my tastes so i dont know how much constructive feedback i can give you as i dont really listen to alot of this sort of thing. Everything sounds really well mixed however -i love your bass in this trac (especially when you make it wobble like at 1:46) sounds really tight - nice work.

@elyhess , @DubMikey
Says your tracks are unavailable?

Sorry if I missed anybody - if I did let me know and ill shoot you some feedback. We need to come up with a format for posting WIPs so they stand out from the tracks in sigs a bit more lol. Maybe something like below :D'

--------------------------------------~~~!!****--->HERE IS MY WIP<---****!~~~-------------------------------------------

Here is the latest song ive been working on. Lately i have slipped into one of those phases where it seems like i just can't get my stuff to sound like one of the tracks from the big names no matter how much work i put into it. Im not sure if it is my mixing/mastring/instrument choice but im really starting to get frustrated lol :u: I would love *ANY* advice you guys have on how to make my track better - tear into it.

Thanks for such delailed feedback.
For the bass, I followed the advice on the "Reese bass thread". Especially "Toolman4" post. To be honest it was one of my first attempts to craft a reese. And quick answer : no sub is layered. The low end comes from the saw waves themselves.

If you want the full delailed process (cause I changed some things obviously) send me a pm.

Pretty cool track! I think the bass needs to be turned down a tad, especially once vocals come in. I also thought it was overly repetitive for a 5 minute song. I was enjoying it and then I kind of wanted a change after halfway through the song. It'll be a pretty sick track with some lyrics.

thanks for the feedback guys, yeah last night i shortened it to 4 mins, and added some hats in teh pauses. took out that last section of 45 secs (gonna use those drums in something else...) but yeah i feel you on the repetitive vibe. more of a tune for some continuous gross vocals to go over. but yeah gonna head home this arvo and do this one up YAHHH MEEEAN???! got some plans for some trumpets to go in there :D just had to have a couple days off the production to let the creative juices build up. shit was getting a lil dry. hopefully ill whip up a few more over the weekend, now that payday's come and gone, i got a full dope sack n all hahaha :D

@npcompl33t: this is a pretty sick fusion man, its like it begins as trap, becomes dubby, hits a lil almost breakbeat section, goes hard house, smacks back into the trap vibe, pretty incredible. you could spend a little time not changing much at all but just refining the sounds you have there already MAYBE tweak some shit a lil, other than that, finishe the mixdown, get this mastered and fucking send me a copy! this is a fucking sick tune. :D
https://soundcloud.com/npcompl33t/9k

@axxessdenied: this is sick man, liking the sounds on the intro, really chronic. i reckon at 00:39 add a lot of bass or bring in a new louder kick or something that adds punch to your drop, the drop is THERE so to speak, but its not awake. its just lying there letting the other sounds have their way with it. your drop is a whore. hahaha jks jks jks but seriously man i reckon add a new synth, or some volume.. if youre running a massive bassline over it of like a sine wave or soemthign around 50/60hz, it can push the other sounds out of the way. if youre running a fat bassline through the main part of the tune, look up "sidechain compression" if youre not using it already. it pushes the kicks and percs through the synth youre compressing with. (look it up on youtube itll make more sense).
but i like the trancey lead, the rhythm is sick, the vibe is really jump-up which is g town. this tune will be huge when youve fully finished working on it. :)

Sup guys.

Kongret: That tune is pretty sick, it sounds really exciting and has that 90s games vibe :D. I agree with what was mentioned earlier though about it sounding very mono. Maybe use a stereo widener on your bass line and pan some things around more drastically i guess.

Skerrick: that wotch it tune is sick, the only thing i dont like is the snares but that personal preference, i just find them a little abrasive (thats because i bum breakbeats and 808s though). The mix sounds ok on these phones, i cant tell because im not on monitors atm, but i think the kick might be a little too clicky (if that were possible) :). over all its a sick tune!

yoitsfrankd: that rape whistles tune isnt my usual choice of genre, however the mix is sounding nice so far :) the only problem is that the kick is a bit boomy and kind of lacks punch a little bit (imo). I would usually cut the sub frequencies entirely (maybe up to like 80hz) and give it a little boost at like 100-120 hz or something. dosnt always work though, might just be something to try. Sounding good though i know a bunch of people who would soil themselves over this sort of thing haha :D

Heres my W.I.P
I think its sounds a bit harsh and shit, i may need to remove high frequencies from the drums (my ears are fucked atm and everything sounds a bit dull. I think i may be overcompensating with EQ)
Soundcloud

Giz a bit o the old constructive crit??? :)
Nice one gents

EDIT: P.s I know that the second drop is the first drop copied, Its just to hold the place of what comes after the second build up :)

I cant remember off the top of my head how i made that sound haha, I know its detunes squares with chorus and really short delay on, and then theres like enveloped lowpass 12 filter on it i think. After that i just put eq and reverb and a bit of tape distortion on it. The key is not using an lfo. YOu get a more organic feel by using envelopes and repeating notes and stuff. Thanks for the kind words man :). Ill pm you the link when its done ;)

No worriessssss. Takes a while to get it right but you just have to experiment haha. I think a subtle mid scoop on the eq helps with the hollow sound too :)
