Have you never met anyone you respected that said drugs played a part in shaping their personality for the better?

I'm not sure "opened my mind" is the phrase, but LSD more than helped create a huge part of what makes me one of the happiest people I know. I've only done it twice and both times were life changing... one time I think about most days and smile.

Only ever doing drugs for the self destructive LOLs is such a waste of good brain.

Nuking the thing with LSD too early is also a waste of good brain; just be careful Sonika. But don't let these guys tell you there's nothing to be learnt from psychedelics just because they're too stubborn to want to see it.

Of course good things can come from doing drugs, i have had great experiences with various substances. I would maybe go as far to say they shaped my personality for the better but no more so than playing for a football team or meeting a new friend or whatever else. The few times i have done psychedelics i had a great time and for a few days/weeks afterwards i felt like a better person. In no way did my 'mind open' or this change last at all.

I haven't met anyone that (imo truly) believes they had a life changing experience with psychedelics except for the worse.

At the end of the day all this evidence for or against psychedelics is anecdotal so pretty inconclusive. I think what we can all agree on is that it is stupid to be doing such mind altering drugs at 15 as often as sonika seems to. It is also pretty worrying imo that at such a young age he so strongly feels the need to 'open his mind', he has a good few years of natural mind opening to come anyway.

Meh, I know loads of people that were obsessed with the 'spiritual' side of drugs at his age... most of them were just harmlessly talking shit and listening to The Levelers. Sonika's been getting advice from this forum for years and he's not broken himself yet... I have a feeling he talks bigger than he snorts.

But I absolutely have had a life changing experience for the better with LSD. I'll most likely never do it again, but yeah, absolutely, I don't really like the phrase, but I "found myself" on LSD in August 2007 and I've never lost the contentment I found.

Either way, I'd certainly rather do psychs with Kochari and d-T-r than bosh another gram of MXE wiv da lads.

What makes you think he doesn't respect them? I get the impression he 'respects' the things he imbibes more than the average student powder monster given his interest in psychs and spirituality.

We've all told him to go steady at various points over the last however many years and he will take on as much of that advice as we took from our elders when we were his age... it's his brain at the end of the day.

A good mate of mine's dad has been borderline psychotic ever since he did lsd 10 years ago.

Yep, that's certainly a risk, but then a mate of my brothers is in a wheelchair for life because he went horse riding. Where do you draw the line on risk? Shall we all just live in bubbles devoid of fun and personal choice?

Some people can't even hack smoking weed without fucking their lives up.

i appreciate all the worry guys honestly

as i said, it's not like i'm abusing them. i might talk about psychs a lot because i think the psychedelic experience is pretty fascinating but i only use them a handful of times a year really. smoke weed a couple times a week. drink at parties. i've done E twice.

smoking weed or whatever might not be awesome for me but i'm young and adolescent and i guess i'd much rather get stoned with some friends or a girl or something and actually talk about shit and make a connection rather than go to a movie and gossip about who's fucking who. that's not even me being a hippie haha that's just honest

Different drugs suit different brains... I've given up telling people what they should and shouldn't take. Some people's lives disappear down the drain given a spliff a day, some people can smoke a teenth a night and happily function like anyone else... some people turn into shaky wrecks after their first ecstasy comedown, some people change the world after dropping acid for the first time... some people drink themselves into homelessness and cirrhosis.

The only advice I can give anyone is to know your own body and your own brain. Listen to them.

You should consider the fact that you are super stubborn and opinionated on this very subject but at the same time that your studies mean you have somewhat of an authority on the subject at least to other people, -and the consequence of that (assumed from afar on the net ofcourse lol) might be that people wouldn't share their experience with you to the same extent.

hmm possibly, although i wouldn't have thought so, a lot of my friends (the people who have done psychedelics) from back home wouldn't know what pharmacology even is.

Also i don't think i have voiced these opinions to them in the past.

Then again i wouldn't mix with the kind of people that would have conversations about how psychedelic drugs 'opened their mind'
