No shame in that! It's decent compared to their latest piece of emo shite album... telling people i like BMTH feels like telling people I like dubstep, there's some explaining to do when they assume you love skrillex/oli sykes and their stupid haircuts

Been getting into Carnifex quite a bit recently, fave metal band is Suicide Silence though. I thought The Black Crown was Ridiculously good :W:

This is very true

Don't care though, I love it. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate 'proper' metal, been listening to thrash, a bit of death metal and groove metal for years before discovering deathcore

I personally think that they can all be catagorised as something else but each to their own.

Ps. Grindcore is punk!

Except it really isn't... There a lot of generic crap yeah but at the more progressive/technical end of the spectrum theres a lot or really clever stuff going on, if u listen to stuff like bmth and then afterwards listen to something by war from a harlots mouth or beneath the massacre you can see the difference

Also bmth suck balls, always have done, even when I was really into metal and hardcore I knew they where a gimmicky haircut band for girls

Totally is...its virtually all generic. Obviously you got your gems in there, like every genre...Beneath The Massarce probably being one of them, been years since I listened to them though.

Doing jazzy drumming, polyrhythms, odd time changes with melodic bits IS cheesy as fuck these days. It's not 1999 or something, where shit like Calculating Infinity by the Dillinger Escape Plan was pretty groundbreaking. It's a predtictable formula that's been done to death by every scene band since 2005. Everyone can see that technical breakdown coming from the first chug of the song.

This is an older thread so I've probably posted this before. But the only thing that's called deathcore I've eved liked is the old Red Chord stuff. It's just good no frills death metal with some Converge and shit in there.

wtf is a second hand toilet seat? I mean surely every single toilet seat would be classified as second hand because they've been used by more than one arse. The insult would be better if you took the second hand bit out tbh

It cut me deep nonetheless though.

Newer deathcore is pretty generic, like Suicide Silence (which I don't like one bit), Carnifex etc. But there were great bands though, like Despised Icon, Day Of Mourning, Animosity, Day Of Suffering...

The only reason deathcore holds weight is because of the groove. And i'm not just talking about some chug=chug breakdown, haha. Is Necrophagist ever fucking going to come out with their new album?

I know what you're getting at, but the more recent Suicide Silence stuff is much more inventive than their older stuff, some great technical riffs, fresh ideas and loads of groove.

Probably not. At least one member is Obscura now.
