OOh OOh OOh, that reminds me, Transformers 2 is out this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow!!!! :D I already have preordered IMAX tix for tomorrow afternoon and the day off! Chea chea! :D :D :D

JEALOUS!!!!!!!

The imax in nyc has chosen (AGAIN) to air the new Harry Potter movie rather than the new Transformer movie (AGAIN), so I'm in two minds as to what to do, do I just suck it up and go see it on the normal screen, or do I wait a few weeks and go see it in new jersey (there must be an imax somewhere in jersey).

Either way Belle, I fully expect you to jump in chat for our show next week with a full report.

Steps 1-3 have to be done with FULL KNOWLEDGE of what you're doing. And if your views on corporations involvement with dubstep somehow waiver with someone pushing into you or someone being less than nice, then that means you don't really care about the corporations. If you DO care about the corporations involvement, you can't claim surprise at Scion being there because IN SIGNING UP, IT IS AN EMAIL FROM SCION. And you don't just click. You have to register whether or not you actually get in. YOU STILL HAVE TO REGISTER. And its not a plus one. EACH PERSON HAS TO REGISTER.
jaybird wrote: this is just untrue.. they tell you to rsvp so they get your email address.. THATS THE MAIN THING THEY WANT... but you don't have to rsvp to get in.. I saw plenty of walk ups.. it even says on the site, rsvp does not guarantee entry... THAT MEANS IF YOU RSVP AND THEY LET TOO MANY PEOPLE NOT ON THE LIST IN, THEY CAN REFUSE YOU..
Look.... I know you all want a piece of that scion money.. but it aint going to happen, no matter how you try to defend it.. they only book uk and euro talent, so don't expect kid logic going on scion tour anytime soon..

stop selling out the culture.. vultures...

cant wait to throw dis free party I'm working on.. with no budget.. but I bet just coz of the location alone, it will kill compared to anything that scion brings..

couldn't actually defend your hypocrisy, could you? so you had to try and call out my relationship to deflect from your inability to reconcile your own position? like it was impossible for me to have an opinion without having an agenda?

thats class. some people don't function like you do, jaybird. perhaps you should remember that.

good luck with your party.
Tell me that is NOT why your concerned, and why your fightins soo hard to keep the corporations IN the scene..

i bet every single person defending the corps either wants, or has gotten some of that scion money..

sorry to have to shove your nose in it like that.. but sometimes, its what needs to be done..

how am i a hypocrite? so I went to a scion show for the first time since I've been to LA, didnt like how the corps where handling it, and called action to get people to think about whats going on.. and that makes me a hypocrite..

I'm about to put myself at risk, so I can throw a bad ass illegal FREE rave, at a sick underground, and completely pubic place..but I'm a hypocrite..

was even thinking of asking your boy to play a few, but I'm a hypocrite..

bellybelle wrote:(incidentally both jaybird and kamala cut in front of me a lil further down the line to get in the club--leaving kamala at the line while jaybird went to put money in the meter)

After getting in, I got a drink, chilled out, got closer to the stage to see Joker in action and kept having people smush in front of me to get closer to Joker as he was performing, Jaybird being one of those people, which was only slightly ironic considering that perhaps 5 mins after doing this to get in front of me, he yelled at some cat about pushing up in front of him. Jokes.

but I do know kamala and jaybird were there at the end. In fact, the people I came with.....we left before they did. And there was not a sad face or complaint amongst anyone there.

Steps 1-3 have to be done with FULL KNOWLEDGE of what you're doing. And if your views on corporations involvement with dubstep somehow waiver with someone pushing into you or someone being less than nice, then that means you don't really care about the corporations.

If you have to be complicit for the first 3 steps, then how are you not being a hypocrite to all of a sudden get a conscience after you've reaped the rewards of the show? You don't need to experience a corporate show to feel that corporate shows are ruining your scene and you sure as hell didn't just discover that a corporation was involved until after you went. So whats the deal?

Y'know.....if you guys want to work with PF so badly, I'm sure you could have done it in a way that didn't make the scene in LA look like a bunch of idiots scramblin around focusing on everything else but what was really important: the music. For the scene you propose caring about so much, you just disrespected a whole bunch of people to get a point across. You took a dump on supposed friends and just genuinely down for the music cats, and for what? To get in tight with PF?

Doesn't that mean for all the complaints of what corporations do, you kinda just did the same thing by turning out a scene for your own benefit? How are you any better than Scion for this?
first of all, we didn't cut in line, when we got there we saw our friends in line and went to say whats up to them, then they, you, and a ton of other people went in before us, so cut the grade school crap cuz thats hardly "cutting in line" . we already said we rsvp'd, you have to if you want to check out what scion and joker were doing..

second of all, we went up to the front for the same reason you were there, to see the dj and chill with our friends. some girl had already stepped on my foot while shoving me against the wall in the back, so we thought we would try our hand with the homies up front. then while we were there people were getting elbowed the head, punched in the side, etc etc . yeah people get pushed on the dance floor, but that's hardly the same thing as punching or elbowing - with absolute and complete disregard for the people around you. Jay wasn't yelling at the guy for pushing in front of him, he was yelling at him for INJURING him while pushing in front of him. see the difference there ?

that aggressive ass shit doesn't really happen at underground parties here, that shit happens when tens of thousands of people are invited at random by corporate mailing lists. that's what happens when you take the personal connection out of gatherings. that's what happens when you bring an underground sound to a corporate hollywood venue for a crowd of randoms who only want to be there because it's free.

if scion threw their events in a way that kept it true to the music and subculture, we probably wouldn't feel the need to complain. but they throw them in a way that over-exposes the music to too many people too quickly, and it brings this influx of heads who don't have any real connection to the music, so they have no real connection with the other people that are there, and they end up treating the people around them disrespectfully. They weren't even treating the DJ respectfully, I saw a kid flick a marker at the turntables during jokers set...

third of all, no one is getting dumped on by us. It's already been established that none of the LA crews were throwing that scion party, nor have we named any names or pointed any fingers. We bigged up joker for his set a few times already. But it does suck that the crowd was so nasty for his set. We don't blame the people who work at the roxy or work for scion for doing their jobs. But we do feel that corporations using dubstep as a marketing tool is something the community should be aware of, weary of, and think objectively about. sure in the short term it brings people in and gets people paid, but in the long term it's interjecting itself and its marketing into the flow of what is becoming a longer lasting real following for dubstep.

fourth of all, like i said before, we're bigging up pure filth because it's a prime example of what happens when you do a good job of throwing events, bringing talent in, promoting those events right, and making a subculture grow. Pure Filth parties are an example of what happens when people gather together for the common love of something, where as the scion parties are an example of what happens when you gather people together who are only there to get free shit at the roxy. nobody is being disrespected by our bigging up a crew that 100% deserves it, NOBODY.

We raised a discussion within a community, that is not the same thing as inviting tens of thousands of new people in at random via corporate mailings lists. That's not the same thing as a multi-national mega company putting their marketing microscope on an underground scene. This thread is not exploitation in any way, shape, or form, nor is it an attack on the people who have participated in the events. But it is a statement that we should question corporate involvement and corporate marketing, and of course corporate exploitation of something we love. plain and simple.

How many DJs have taken gigs to promote their tunes? How many promoters have thrown parties to sell their drugs or their DJ friends? How many DJs have spun records just to get laid... how many of them have certain people been on the guest list for their rear entry?

So many questions... so little time.

Jaybird: Your tunes suck, and if you're going to remix a classic you better fucking come correct. From where I'm sitting, you're about the worst person to be talking about selling out or lack of respect for roots and the "scene". You're also a fucking hypocrite. Your mixdowns are shit and I was sitting idle in Dubstep.fm when you were talking madness about your ability to mix down to +12 and shit with no clipping and all that random bullshit. Going out on a limb and guessing you really know nothing at all about audio outside of how to pretend you're Goldie.

Kamala: Close them. And I'll let you ponder what I'm talking about when I say "them."

Let the rats party in their sewer. Belle and I will sit over here and wait for the underground to collapse. Surely it will then be in need of a rescue crew to come help dig them out of their cave. Pricks.

Lastly, yes an LA crew was involved in helping Scion promote that party. Thus proving you know absolutely jack shit. Thus proving why Pure Filth might be a bit jealous, and why a certain other LA crew is perfectly fine with the free badass party with Pure Filth's headliner 3 days early. I'd say Pure Filth has a rather large prickly anal plug in their ass and are crying about it. If I hate a party and it was shit, you won't see me post about it.

I am not speaking for anyone else but me. Its cheap and nasty for you to repeatedly bring up my relationship and I'm sick of it. I've been respectful of you even though I don't agree with your "new" position and I say "new" because if you were even at the show, you had 3 separate opportunities to express concern for your support of Scion and in each instance, you flexed on your moral standing to get what you wanted: a free Joker show. The more you bring him up, the more you invalidate your stance.

If the idea that I can have this opinion without having kickbacks or sponsorships purely because I enjoy going to free shows with people that I would have never been able to see had it not been for this way--if you can't see that the one thing I stand to gain is getting to experience and enjoy this music, show support for the musicians, show support for my fellow brothers and sisters, and give props to people who are spending their free hours sweating and working over stuff that they hope will one day make it and then it does.....if you can't understand how I would feel this way, then #1 you have no idea of the kind of person I am and #2 you have no respect for the people who are working so hard to bring it here.

You disrespected every single DJ/Producer who's ever worked with a corporate sponsor. You disrespected all the hard work that went into bringing the amazing free show to this area. You disrespected your friends, your beloved artists. Those people who you are moved by. The people who embraced you when you moved to LA. You disrespected every single one of them.

But somehow, you think the reason I have this opinion is because I am concerned with getting that corporate dollar, instead of seeing it as just one person who feels privileged just to be able to be a part of this and thinks that instead of burning bridges in the community, we should be building them. Maybe I care about the loads of artists who don't make it, who work hard to get to a point where they'd get an offer that would really ease their troubles. Maybe I'm thinking about how many cats don't have shit else but their tables, their laptops, and their love of music--and how those cats would feel if someone said to them, "You touched us and we have no other way to say thank you but to share and help get the word out. Here's a stipend to make it happen."

Maybe I just really love music. I thought that's why we were all here. Loving this sound and giving props to the people who make it happen.

I'm done.....at some point, as the adage says, arguing with fools at a distance makes you look like one. And that's just not really why I'm here.
okay.. so it's okay for you to personally attack me, but if I bring up luke it's in bad taste.. whatever.. you have your motives to hate, and don't act like you embraced me with open arms when you got there.. you have been beefing with my girl, since she became my girl.. so I dun't wanna hear it..

I have not disrepected anyone, other then people trying to disrespect me.. yes I have always hated scion parties, since the first one ever at NATION (where I used to work) with LTJ BUKEM..

I thought MAYBE they have changed their tune, and more then one person told me to check out joker, so I put my hate aside, to give them a second chance..

I didn't have to fill out papers, goto website, or give up my email to get in.. so I dunno why you keep saying I had to do this stuff to get in.. COZ I DIDN'T.. I just walked up, and got it..

SCION IS NOT OUR COMMUNITY.. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT DUBSTEP, YOU, ME, THE CULTURE OR ANYTHING, THEY JUST WANT YOU TO BUY A FUCKING CAR.. BOTTOM LINE! if 1 person at that scion show buys a scion, it was worth it to them to throw the fucking free party..

Also, Im not concerned with getting that "Scion Money" or any other kind of money, In fact, Im playing a FREE show the same night as the next Scion party. Hope to see you guys there.

First of all, your girl said she signed up dipshit. Shut your hole and read. Second of all, namedropping LTJ Bukem and working in some proximity to him means shit. I worked the door at a show LTJ Bukem played once myself so I guess we're best mates. Also, my love for Benga and Skream lives or dies based on the quality of their tunes. When the tunes get bad, they are just some other producer making shit tunes IMO. Why should anyone look at them on some sort of different sliding scale? Oh you made great tunes Benga, let me excuse that none of them happen to have been made since 2006?

There's a difference between underground and obscure, Jaybird. You're just obscure, and Kamala can't sing so stop putting her on your tracks.

BOTTOM LINE! if 1 person at that scion show buys a scion, it was worth it to them to throw the fucking free party..

and whatever, I only saw you AT the FREE show, not the UNDERGROUND, that required an investment.. wheres your love for BENGA and SKREAM?

You're just obscure, and Kamala can't sing so stop putting her on your tracks.
your a dooche, and you need to check yourself.. I used to work for the guys that brought scion into throwing dnb parties, a long ass time ago.. read the 2nd or 3rd page..

yeah I know a LOT of people from WAYYY BACK.. I wasn't name dropping, I was telling you that the FIRST SCION SHOW EVER WAS LTJ BUKEM.. and about 35 people showed up @ a 5000 person club.. and if the crowd wasn't completely wack, i would've have said it was awesome, b/c WHO GETS TO SEE LTJ BUKEM with only 35 people..

yeah bring the internet threats.. and if you wanna beef.. I'm down fool.. send you home bleedin..

got any tunes that are actually yours, coz you seem to rip off current stuff..
the sound is pretty good.. productions is solid, but every tune is someone elses.. interesting sound, do you make those, or do you use reason refills?

I only remix stuff that wouldn't be dubstep unless I remixed it, and generally tunes that I love.. like Hurt U So.. Love that tune, big up Jonny L..

as far as the goldie remix, every single sound is from those records, every last one of them.. it took HOURS just to cut and stick together certain parts.. I had to go thru like 3 or 4 different versions to get all of the material for that remix.. it's also like almost 2 years old now, and I have yet to hear it at a party that wasn't interested about it, or wasn't feeling the oldschool vibe..

good to know you have some love for the underground.. if I get an invite to that free joint, I'd much rather see you play then whatever is at the roxy.. beef or not..
Please quit bringing up this non-existant "beef" that we all supposedly have.

And its a free party. All are invited. Im not going to use this thread to promote it though.

okay you say what you will... this is not the place.. but I know you have some sort of beef with me, I dunno why.. and your women deffo has beef with mine.. coz of some bullshit.. that you may or may not be involved in..

thats a fact..

I heard someone got a lil upset that I was asked to do the smoke sessions as well..

so the mere fact that belly has a problem with myself, and kamala, smears everything she says coz it's bias, and motived by the dislike of another..
