coo yea im like going back and forth if I want to make the investment. I know that between Operator and Massive i have all the synth power i "should" need but being someone who never had the stage of using an actual hardware synth I feel like I could benefit from it not just in terms of learning programming but actually getting some unique sounds i can call my own rather than just chasing coattails with Massive.

Thoughts?

Buying a hardware synth will not automatically give you a unqiue sound. Whatever the kit is (hardware/software) you need to spend time learning how to use it. If Massive isn't doing it for you, then maybe download a freeware VST and spend time learning that inside and out.

Synth1, for example.

I've been trying to master the inbuilt synths in ableton before I move onto anything else - What are people's thoughts on the 'analog' synth? Never really hear anyone mention it.

All sound different and you need to try a bunch to see how you like them. And before doing this you'll need to know synthesis otherwise you'll have no idea what you're buying, lol. Also, not many modern synths have a completely analog signal chain, most have DCOs in there (but then even the old Juno's have DCOs, so its kind of a 6 in one, half a dozen thing).

Having said that, one completely analog synth that sounds really good (and has 8 voice polyphony!) is the Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 PE—aftertouch, warmth, but like Wub said, you have to spend time with it to get the most out.

20% of all EAs at the office are being let go today. It's going to be a rough one.

Payday. Just checked my payslip, the overtime and share benefits I got towards the back end of last year have pushed me up a tax bracket, so despite working my ass off I'm only abou £250 better off this month. Not impressed.

I got 2 increases last year, now I earn less.

At least I can claim back medical, which can be a hefty payback.

But monthly it`s just a ball ache

Yeah, this isn't as much fun as it should be. Am passing the time with some Man vs. Food episodes.

Yeah, I needed to get out the house once I'd done my email slog for the day, so took myself down the gym.

Unfortunately, Man Vs. Food has affected me on a subliminal level, so went down the supermarket and bought ingredients to make my own burgers for dinner tonight.

Started off with mince, red onion, garlic, sun dried tomatos and egg yolk into the patties;

Dry fried for a couple of seconds each side in a smoking hot skillet to seal them, then baked in the oven for about 7mins to cook through;

Served with cheese, tomato, spinach & jalapenos;

And eaten;

Funnily enough, I had a protein shake before I started making those.

Hell no, I average maybe 3 a day? Basic all in one mix for breakfast/mid morning, then a caffiene & carbs mix before the gym, and another all in one straight after.
