Not sure how I feel about the Messi best player thing.. I don't think he was the best player but at the same time he carried a team which shouldn't have needed carrying... and took them to within 10 mins of penalties in the final. On paper Argentina are far from "Messi +10 players" but they played like it most of the time.. with the exception of Di Maria and Mascherano.

Surprisingly good game for a final that was goalless until the second half of extra time. I thought Argentina were marginally better in normal time, but Germany bossed extra time and deserved the goal in the end. They CERTAINLY deserve the trophy.

Yeah, Ozil really turned up last night... he was immense at holding the ball up (some lovely trickery occasionally to do it, too), which doesn't seem to get noticed by anyone but was largely the reason Germany stayed in control, I reckon. Someone mentioned that he'd got more assists than anyone else in the WC... bodes well for August!
