@ CDPP
I personally thought that the lack of flow was cool, especial because the drop hits you right in the face. Others might not agree with me though, so you cloud join the two parts by making the build a little more indicative of the drop, or maybe incorporating bits of the intro into the drop. Anyway, the production quality was very good, so at least you can feel good about that.
@zosomagik
Sick, Sick, SICK. So Funky, such a great flow, a track to be proud of. The drums sounded great and they blended perfectly with the track. My only suggestion would to be to finish the track.

@knobgoblin
It was my style, but I can certainly appreciate It's intensity. If the hats had been louder, the would have been sick. If I were you, I would just keep mixing until it sounds right. Overall, very well done.

As for me, I have been working on the track for a while, and I'm fairly happy with it, I just want to know what other people think.

@InfinityMan: Really nice mids m8, but u need to add a heavy sub - sounds a little bit stupid without it :/ ;)

@lighshapers: Really like the flow and energy :) - just gets a lil bit repetitive (but i kinda like dat :) )

f8fabe- interesting sounds you got here. i think it would sound good with a little bit more mid-low bass. something in the 300-500hz range, just to fill out the spectrum a bit. youve got nice sub and hi end, could use just a bit more weight in mid-low end.

lightshapers- cool idea, kinda a trap/bass hybrid. i would add a bit more to the melodic content between the drops- expand on those ideas, maybe like mat zo style.

infinityman- definitely was not expecting any of these drops. they sound interesting but for some reason don't really gel as a whole together. i think it's the synth melody that doesn't fit... it sounds too light and happy for such an aggressive bass line, ya know what im tryin say

@F8Fabe: Really digging that intro, the bells sounds really nice. The windown is maybe a decible or two too loud. But that bassline is great, really big sound! This is sort of reminiscent of coki to me... I agree with mtl6 too though, maybe try and beef up that bass in the low mid range, and maybe at some point add a few pads. I think with that it’ll give it that tiny extra bit it needs to sound really full. All around though, great job man.

@mtl6: Oh man every time I come back to this forum I swear the production gets better, this time is no exception, this intro is so dope, I love the groove. At :34 though, when you add another that block melody (which is great), i would also try adding maybe an extra synth layer or something there to really set it apart from the first part. The little buildup just before 1:40 is great, when it goes back in though I feel like I’m expecting it to be a little bigger. The set up is perfect, but yeah, either some slightly bigger sounding (or a little louder) drums and an extra bit of percussion or synth or both. I’m really curious to see where you go with this, if you can remember send it to me when it’s done! Great job man.

@Sunnyboy: bahaha I was waiting for something like this, and I mean that as a compliment. I’m always so interested in what kind of gnarly stuff forum members come up with. So I like your concept a lot, but I think you need louder/larger/more obvious pads to back up that bassline, and I think that bassline could potentially get a little wider, at least in the high ranges. Maybe also clear the sub up. If you haven’t HPF everything but the sub above 80 hz, i’d do that. Otherwise dude, if this is your first tune, really great work. It’s a million times better mixed than my first was.

Here's a remix I did of my friend's song, any crit or feedback is greatly appreciated.

@mtl6: Thanks for the feedback :) - ur track sounds pretty sweet, but the pads are a lil bit overwhelming and maybe u should try to make ur bass a lil bit more dominant

@sunnyboy: really good for ur first track! :) dig the sounds - but u need to turn down the pad during the drop - it takes a lot of energy away :/

@orlandobloominonion: lovely track :) - not my favorite kinda style, but the production is solid ;)

Alright, comments for everyone on this page incoming... :)

@InfinityMan - the wobbles are on point although I'd turn them down a bit. And as the others say, where's the sub?

@lightshapers - loving how clear and sharp your mix sounds, that's what I'm aiming for myself. amazing!

@mtl6 - nice chilled out atmosphere, definitely suits me :W:

@Sunnyboy - nice 'creepy' intro, however the mix is very muddy, the most important thing is that the drums lose a lot of power imo. it sounds to me like the snare is low passed too much and it is lacking some higher frequencies to give it that thump. also not hearing any hats, if they're, definitely turn them up and try to give them some space. they would help a lot as they operate in the higher frequencies.

@orlandobloominonion - I like how you play with the vocals in the main section. What I missed was a greater buildup at the beginning and some more melodical structure apart from the piano

@F8Fabe - good job and nice use of 'comedy samples'. I would just try to introduce some more variation, the previous track 'Confused' sounded a bit more interesting, however, I know this kind of dubstep gets away with that :W:
______________________________________

Now, this is my second tune, work in progress:
Soundcloud
(you probably have to open this in a new window due to privacy settings)

I know that I have to:
1) add some low end to the intro to give it some character
2) work on the breakdown before the drop, give it a more of a growing, rising feel

However I've spend so much time on this recently that I'm starting to feel lost, that's why I think sharing this with you is a good solution. I would love your comments on the tune, and the mixdown especially. Is something too quiet, or maybe too loud and overpowering the mix? I know the intro is more quiet than the drop but this is easy to overcome with a glue compressor at the end. Cheers!

Yo hirszu, I'm diggins the feel of your track. I'm only listening on my laptop, but I'll hook up to some monitors and listen to it proper a little later. What I can say now, try layering up some of your sounds like that creepy pad sound in the beginning, and maybe add some more odd percussion bits in when the bass comes in.

@hirszu: thanks for the crit, I agree! Also, love your tune, one thing i would say is I think the kick can be turned up a bit and the snare given a bit more top end. Otherwise, that sub line is dope.

@f8fabe: Production is solid. The only things I can really suggest is bring down that yoshi sound, or maybe even eq it because it gets a bit annoying after a while ( I get that it's part of the idea of the track, but it could be better suited more in the background imo). Also, the hats could use a bit more variation. That 808 hat gets old after a bit. Solid track though.

@orlandobloominonion:I'm not really the biggest fan of the way you use the vox to make the melody (the different pitches using the "you"). It might work better using a synth while keeping her pitch the same. The drums are nice, I like the glitchy feel, although I'd vary up those shakers in the background, maybe have a couple other hats alternating on top of them playing 8th notes as well. The drums also lead me to believe that there's going to be a meatier bassline, but it's just sub the whole time. I'd defenitly add at least a bit of something on top of the sub, even a simple reese going in and out. all in all nice work.

@sunnyboy: it's a really nice first track. here are my thoughts. The atmosphere and pads are nice in the intro. The drop is well done. It sounds like everything after the drop has been squashed to hell with a limiter so the drums can't come through at all. Because of that I can't even tell if you have any hats or cymbals playing, I can just barely hear the kick and the snare. also the sub sounds really messy, it doesnt have much weight, it just kinda sound like a big rumble. I'd use a straight sine wave sub bass and you can use the same lfo you used on the "wobble bass" to automate the volume. I'd also add in some pads or a bit of variation after the drops because that sound gets a bit monotonous after a while. Keep workin at it!

@hirszu: First I would bring out those congas a bit, they sound good, but I can barely hear them. I like the drums, the snare is great. The bass hits really nice. the only thing I can really say is maybe bring down those hats that play 8ths and maybe bring in a couple extra samples. Imo it could also use a bit more in the background, and nice sound alternating in and out so it doesn't sound so empty at times.
I can't wait to hear the finished track.

@zosomagik: Really nice soft pads. I'm loving that percussion. That crash is a bit loud at times. Also it sounds like it might to have a bit notched out in the mids, it gets a bit fatiguing at the end of its crescendo. I'd love to hear after the second intro a bunch more of those percussion sounds. To vary it up a bit you could add more to make it seem like the tempo has sped up. The sub is good. Nicely done!

anyways here's my latest. it's at 160 bpm; and the first time I've attempted anything heavy in a while. All comments, good or bad are encouraged.

That is really nice man. There's really nothing I can pick on ;) Maybe just a voice sample in the intro or later would give the track a more warm and human feeling. But that's it.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'm already working on it and I'll be posting the final version soon. Adding a couple of delays and reverbs to fill in the space :)

cmgoodman- really diggin this. love the bass and snare. maybe bring the pads up in a volume a little bit more?

f8fabe- once again this sounds really good and polished. maybe just add more one long bass noise to hit on the down beat every couple bars to switch it up a little? sounds good though you've got a unique sound

orlando- beautiful piano work, really digging this intro. i think the vocal chops could be pitchshifted up a bit to give it that glitchy melody vibe. do you use melodyne at all? could definitely be expanded into a full song with maybe a heavier drop? I'm thinking like a kaskade style trancy drop but that's just my imagination, pretty stuff.

here's a remix i just made, kinda trap influenced. lemme know what you think

@F8Fabe I really like the feel of your first song (confused), only complaint is that it sounds a little off when you pick the beat up after the first drop, finding a better transition will make that drop sound really filthy.

Your second song (Yoshi bass) is freaking crazy, no complaints. Keep it up!

@Sunnyboy excellent job I love the second drop when you break it down with that massive synth, no complaints from me.

@mtl6 loving the remix, perfect beat for the vocals. Maybe trill the hi hats a little more to make it sound more psychotic. Awesome work!

Here's my WIP. Chill song with trap influences. Any type of feedback is greatly appreciated!

Yeah, this is pretty sick man. Reminds me of some old Banana Bomber (now Grumblex) cuts. I'd say, that this section is fine, but as you progress, maybe shift some notes up/down an octave for variations at the end of riffs.

@mtl6 - it moves the dope. beat is solid. very bump. much groove.

@TSOL - very intro. chill is correct. needs dark reece. bring up dat snare.

@jesslem - dub. very whacky basses. much like. good mix.

having fun with noise. putn reverb on my subbass for days. 7 second decay, 100% stereo spread. 23 layered kicks boosted at 20hz +45db. also vocode an dont forget to kompress.

Long time no post.... feedback below (writing as I listen):

@jimbeaux: Lol tbh not my sort of thing, but the sounds are quite cool, for me I'd pump up the kick a little since it gets lost against the midrange - tbh I'd just increase the high end transient to make it stick through the mix.I like the outro... reminds me of an old 56k modem :P

@TSOL: Love the rain on the intro, nice piano work too. The strings are good but they'd benefit from maybe a central cello or contrabass layer to give them a bit more low end. Also the second set of strings at 1.37ish sounds way too "midi", increase the release so the chords bleed as they would irl. Some reverb on the strings/rain to bring them together a little may sound nice too. Kicks nice on the trap part but I felt like you needed another layer like vocals or a high end synth to keep the track progressing.

@mtl6: Like the drums, kick and claps punch nicely. The style works nicely and the vocals fit around the other things well. I think perhaps you could use another bass layer - a warmer layer to compliment you kick, just to make it sound super fat. I'd also work on varying the background instruments - gets a bit repetitive towards the end.

@cmgoodman1226:
Like the intro and the reese basses. I think the kick could use a little more presence in the mix. The reeses are nice but maybe add some raspy wide stereo on the top end - like parallel the reeses, ube distort them and stereorise them. I think the pads work well but they get a little boring, and I'd work on making them a little smoother - maybe add some white noise/flanging/chorus/filter sweeps.

@ hirszu: Dead link.

@F8Fabe: Punchy intro, the vocal stab is kinda irritating imo since it's so loud in the mix. I don't really like these sorts of basses but I think your mix is almost there, the drums are punchy and clear, but the constant panned hats gets a little repetitive - maybe pan them around.

@orlandobloominonion: Love these vocals but at times the piano doesn't seem to fit, idk if it's off key or what. I think on the "drop" you could use another layer, such as midrange synth or some strings just to pad out the stereo field. Overall it sounds really nice and the drums are clear.

So here's my "track" or rather 20mins of clips... I'd appreciate any feedback on the little clips (obv. not on everything :6: ) since it's a kind of LP I'm trying to piece together atm.

@TSOL
the intro is really interesting, I have a weak spot for rain samples. Now the things I'm not sure about:
-piano is too preset sounding
-the intro could be shorter, or if you want to keep that lenght, then how about a better buildup
-both piano and strings sound a bit flat to me, i would automate their panning as well as send them through a reverb/delay
-the general atmosphere of the track is a bit cheesy

@jimbeaux
nice, I would just try to make the hats more sharp to go with that skanky groove

@ mthrfnk
can't say much as this is not my thing but your production is on spot, mixes sound clear etc. like that. briefly listened to those clips and I think I like the one @1:38 most. probably because it's got that funky feeling. also the tracks do not sound all the same, which is a good thing if you want to put out an lp.

here's an updated version of the tune I posted a couple of days ago... I would love some opinions.

@Fabe - Dude... Huge fan of the sound design, gotta P0gman/Barron feel too it. Keep at it! Would also love to collab. :Q:

@mthrfnk - Don't really know what to say other than this is really great man! I know i've seen you around here before but kudos on the new tunes and good luck with that LP. I really love clip #3 btw, really got a nice ed banger recs vibe too it, super funky!

@jimbeaux - really digging the sound design on this one. has a real strange feel to it!

Threw this little WIP pretty quickly but i'm really digging how its turning out. this is the first blatantly dark dub track if written in a while so i'd love to hear what you guys think!

Annex.. nice shit! That bass sounds a bit like something datsik would turn out. Intro is a bit long for my liking..
jimbeaux.. kool sounds, the execution is a bit boring tbh.. feels like it needs more going on and the glide in doesn't help.. good track though!
TSOL.. please take the 'trap' out of it.. you're making a potentially great chill tune into something it doesnt need to be.. if you insist on keeping it though, id take out some of the harsh freq in those violins! too much

okay here's this.. its nothing.. but It's an idea..very different fyi and for a new alias!!
