@orlandobloominonion: Love the chillness of this! I personally would change that saw lead synth though, the melody is fine but the synth is kind of boring, but everything is pretty cool! I'd tighten up that kick a bit and add a sub at certain sections (but thats just me). Not sure of the part 1.50 to 2.10 -- I think you should put some other kind of breakdown/build up instead of that. But I dig the second drop with the delay guitar sounding thing. Overall, a really good start that is really swingy! Really like the chords, how'd you get that "doubling" effect on them?

*last post was 2 weeks ago, I doubt any of those people still want feedback (if you do, just say so i'll edit my post)

tried something different. actually took me almost a month to finish because I have a hell of a schedule atm.
started to rush things towards the second drop to be honest with myself

It usually takes about that much time haha. Mine's the last song on the previous page, would love some feedback. I'll be happy to give you some crit today too, just don't have my speakers right now.

thanks for the feedback everybody, its all very much appreciated! :)

dotcurrency - i really like the concept of the song, i love really melodical stuff like this. my only point would be just work on the mixdown and find a bitr more space for each element of the track so oyu really get the full impact of all those melodies.

orlandobloominonion- I like the feel of this song, got that rnb joker type feel to it. I think in terms of mixdown just make your claps punch a bit more and add a little bit more high end to your main lead. other than that fuckin solid effort man.

hirszu- real nice intro man, love the percussion work.when it drops everything just needs to hit a bit harder percussion wise, maybe turn your hats up a bit a take a tiny bit of the reverb off them. beyond that again, seriously good track man :)

heres my latest, pretty much done

Here's my newest. Looking for recommendations on how to "finish" it off and any general comments on the track and mixing (mix not complete).

Soundcloud

dotcurrency - Really like the use of samples in the intro and the kick is a really subtle but good driving force. Loving the beat - very garage. Can imagine hearing this on Target’s Xtra show! I think if the second drop, although the idea being good, was worked on a bit I think it’d be awesome

Alexandercunningham - I like this straight away, the sample is wicked! Not too keen on the hi hat sound as it’s pretty standard but overall I really like this tune. The melody in the drop is really good and fits with the bass sound really well. I really like the trap style snare rolls too

hirszu - VERY dubbed out! Love this mate. Are you working with hardware or is that an in the box spring reverb? Great melody. Dude. This is absolutely amazing… real authentic vibes! I rarely enjoy a song from start to finish in this feedback thread but love this one, great job

Kes-Es - Very moody intro, I really like that.. I love the pitched around sample. For me the drums get a little boring after a while but I do like the sound of them a lot. Bassline is pretty heavy and sounds well mixed on this side.

F8Fabe - Like the intro straight away and sounds very well mixed on my laptop speakers. Wow… Liking this. Drop is very nice.. I was expecting a “thicker” bass sound if that makes sense… Not so phased. I do like the movement though and the whole idea of the tune is very good. For me, the bass sound is a bit lacking.

Cheeky - Love the dark vibes in the intro. Allows the minimal bassline to be super effective which is great. Nice simple but effective drum work. Sub bass is sick :)

MassAphekt - “Legends” - LOVING this right form the beginning! The growl sound is sick and the background chords give it really nice movement. This is NUTTY!! Haha. That is so original mate I’m loving that. Wonky as fuck.

Molag Bal” - Nice snappy drums which are punching through nice on my laptop speakers. The vocal on top of the growls is really nice. Very nice organic build up and I like the way you mixed the chords nice and loud once the other melodies had disappeared. Pretty good job on the drop but it needs more low end. Overall, wicked. I’ll be looking out for some of your releases!

Ascian - Very professional sounding. Out of the three tracks I am reviewing I believe this has the mixing, technicality and sound design. Great track howevert it does sound like two seperate tracks. If you can work the arrangement to suit the overall theme and feel or the track that will be my advice.

Dotcurrency - Holy hell you've improved so much since the last time I listened to your tracks way back. You definately have a good vibe throughout the track and have good arrangement. Keep it up man. Only thing to do will be to work on the mix more and get your drums to stand out more and separate the muddiness.

Ok here is my track, Haven't worked on a track in a while. Any feedback would be nice. Thank you. Tried to get a megalodon/Funtcase type of vibe in this.

Got two tracks for feedback. Cheers.

Alexandercunningham: Damn i like this one! Those vocals really makes the track complete keep going! :W:

F8Fabe: That snare is kinda like some old movie punch fx really nice :D all the sounds fit together overally (is that even a word? :D ) nice track!

Ascian: Feels like dnb switching to trap and dubstep really nice! :4: The clap is too low at the part starting at 1.30 and the part starting at 2.37 but nice track!

So heres mine I started to make the drums yesterday and today I started to work with the basslines, I need to add sub bass layer to some of those sounds and maybe chance some or all of them but im too tired right now to do it since i got horrible hangover (thats where the name comes from :D )

Plus i need to do more mixing, now i just added quickly some fx and hipassed some sounds

Updated added some intro shit there

Maza 1 - I'm bored as hell and tired out from revising lol so I'm just gonna give some feedback. cool sound design. Nice Snare it is puncy however that it probably because the track is very quiet. I know its not mastered but, make sure to boost it up in some gain. Its hard to give feedback on this because it is very raw, e.g no intro arrangement, but yeh nice bass sounds.

What's up guys?

It's been a long time since I last posted on this forum but I started working on a tune just over an hour ago and I thought I'd post a little clip here to see if I can get any feedback on what I have so far! I'd love to know if you're feeling it, what you like and don't like and also any suggestions on what you think'd sound nice :)

First things first...

F8Fabe - (Heavyweight) I really like your drums, they're punchy as hell and cut through the mix nicely. I love the subtle vibrato on that bassline, very cool!
I don't really have any critisism of this, it's not usually my type of vibe but I think this is awesome.

Cheeky - Super tight mix, lovely sub bass! Can't complain here, a real solid minimal piece!

orlandobloominonion - I like the idea of this, nice and smooth track. You could definitely juice up that snare/clap, it's sounding a little weak and low in the mix.
Maybe try layering it with something a little heavier just to give it more of a snap, I like what you have so far though!

I appreciate any comments,

Cheers! :4:

@sub_lox - Cool mood and pretty cool track... Not much my style anymore but the me four years ago would love this. But over all, you have a solid starting point.

@Maza - Dope ass wobble!!! Tho the second part of the drop, the one that comes in at 1.10 didn't sound as thought through. The snare gets kinda boring after a while and you should work on the song dynamics so it won't feel to repetitive.

@dotcurrency - Kinda like it in the beginning, but I don't really follow the sound. At some times too much weird stuff happens and this sound thrive in a minimalistic environment. Try to scale it down and do some side-chaining do make it more head-bobbing-friendly.

Now when all exams are done for the semester I got down to do some R Kelly chopping and found a wonderful gem to play with...

I don't know what more to do with it tho, and I don't feel like Im done with it at the same time, so please share feedback and inspirational pointers and whatnot, or be mean as hell :D

@MaZa1 - I like this a lot, the drop is heavy. Make the percussion drum in the beginning less computer-sounding, mess with velocity. Also I'm no engineer but the snare sounds too loud. Overall I think you should layer it with something that has a high-endy tail (long decayed 909?), to get the snare tail crunchier and not just ringy.

@sub_lox - This is pretty solid man, really like the atmosphere! Can't really complain.

@Alexandercunningham - Really like this, especially 1:17 and onward. Layer the snare with something punchy. Great work, especially the chopping.

Yeah this is some kinda cheesy neuro-y thing I did, not sure what to do with it
I really am not the best at this resampling stuff. Usually end up with weak noisy trash :?

@bouncingfish very creative tune mate, my kind of melody and your bass sounds great.. Only thing i'd suggest is a sharp low end kick underneath the kick youve got but thats just personal taste!

@alexcunningham, loving this mate, the pads are just up my street and the bass is awesome, drums sound tight also. For constructive feedback i'd have the vocals a little bit quieter and have the wet on the vocal reverb turned down a little tiny bit as well!

@sub lox, mean sounding bass mate, really like it! the jungly percussion works really well and helps it flow. For feedback i'd have maybe one of the bass sounds used on the drop in the build up with the bass eqed out so it's just the mid, and with a bit of delay just to help it progress.

Here's my track, just finished the first half of it and some feedback would be sweet!

Just going to make 2 posts because I made one earlier in reply to @LukeRaith.

@cmgoodman1226- This is really good dude, I enjoy this type of beats. Very good work! It gets a bit too loopy though, I know that's kinda part of the sound but try to add some stuff that spreads out/differs over several bars so that it sounds less like one part being looped again and again and again. GREAT though!

@R3b - Really nice vibe on both of these man. Koan sound/asa-ish, very good! On the first track, the snare isn't really working, way too hard/brutal. Have a nice little "pfoh" snare instead with not as much distortion. The second track sounds a bit dark/muddy maybe, not sure. But very solid tracks, astonishing percussion and pads on the first one, nice vibes!

-

Soooo I thought I'd post the update of my tune after your critique. Not sure how I feel about the new version, I may have fixed some stuff but I also feeI kinda ruined the whole thing. :u: Hm... more help is appreciated (even if you critiqued before, you can critique again).

Alexandercunningham:
This is dope, I really have no complaints, I have a real hard on for that james blake kind of style. Good one! I love voice pitching
.

Mazai- I like this intro, quite a bit. your metal influence is apparent, haha, as it was intended to be. I guess the only thing I don't like is that you've got the drums mixed great almost in spite of the bass, which would be fine with a punchier kick imho, but you don't have that. good overall man, sounds are fun. You should throw some tom rolls in there. Oh my fuck that second bass.

Sub lox- I admire your drums already, this is really slick, I have no real crit, I love your main mid sound. Everything sounds great so far.

@ luke Raith: Nice work, I think it could use a little bit of swing, maybe from some closed hats to really give it some groove. Also the hat that on the upbeat sounds a bit too loud to me. I also might switch up the bass to more shorter stacatto notes at some point so it just just sound like a long drole bass going on and on and on. I like the vox, like the melody. Really interesting track here.

@bouncing fish: the piano sounds really plastic to me. I like the melody itself but I'd look for a better piano to use. Also, the whole bass needs some serious compression. It's ok to have some dynamics but this is sort of all over the place. I like the reese movement, but I would add some more distortion to bring out some more of the mids and the high end to give it more crunch. All the drum sounds are nice, although I would probably add in a couple more hats personally. All in all, nicely done!

@alexandercunningham: Really like that intro. Bass hits perfectly. That percussion sound can be a bit harsh in the higher frequencies; I would notch it out a bit as it gets really annoying after a while. Also, it seems a bit heavy on the white noise at times. Other than that I really have to critiques. I really like this.

anyways, here's mine, some primo style hip-hop here. The bassline in the chorus is complete shit but it's the best I've been able to come up with thus far. I'd love to get some feedback.

I'm pretty sure it's not just compression or saturation that's missing. it sounds like your sub is all over your stereofield. mono your frenquencies below ~120/200 hz

Spot on on all of this stuff! Thanks a lot.
Yeah I've been thinking of getting a better piano for a while, logics built in sample library is nice but the pianos are meh. Native Instruments Alicias Keys maybe, or The Giant? Do you have any good piano libraries?

Also yeah, the bass was really annoying. I actually compressed it a lot but then I thought I needed more movement and forgot to tame it after that, so to speak. Also it has some annoying clicks which were brought out by the compressors, will mess with transient shapers on that. When all this is kinda fixed I'll upload a new version. Though the piano might be hard as I don't have that many libraries so as I said, some tips on that would be great.
