Sad? Not sure if I ever thought it was sad.

But yeah, Anti-social crew and Purple are the other sounds that aren't on the deep side (what you call dungeon I suppose) of things yet remain quite engaging.

These still blow me away each and every time. I can't believe jay still keeps them as dubs.

Man honestly YOU are being the dickhead here. Because I feel for this guy and I completely see where he's coming from, and the fact that you don't is crazy to me. There are so many dungeon tunes going on right now and they are all beginning to sound the same. Yes of course there are melodic artist , silkie, jazzy jazzy, quest, Heny G, DFRNT, Von D, Jay 5ive, kromestar, King Slaff, all of the echodub records crew, but what this guy is getting at is...at the moment, it seems that the production of all those melodic jazzy sounds has definitely slowed down, and almost come to a halt altogether. The dungeon sound is getting rinsed very quickly in my opinion and very few are keeping it original with the dungeon thing (commodo, lurka, thelem, SP:MC, killawatt, and biome are the most refreshing IMO, but they're all good)

Don't get me wrong, I love the dungeon shit, and I love the deeeeeep dark tunes but a lot of them sound very similar these days. I believe this guy was just referencing the ratio of dungeon music being produced and publicized to the amount of jazzy more melodic stuff. In that aspect this guy is spot on, the dungeon stuff is all over the place and beyond ubiquitous while the first jazzy sounds to come out in a while are going to be from the new Author LP (CAN'T FUCKING WAIT!)

yeah, I was just thinking about how everybody on youngstas podcast is using the same samples/sounds? don't get me wrong, I like most of the tunes (especially biome) but they all start sounding the same (soap dodgers, no disrespect...)

I don't think anyone would disagree JK's Ruff House is up there for track of the year, and we all know the homage it pays to Loe's Ruffage. I don't produce and have little to no artistic capacity (outside of oratory, I suppose) but I think its a mistake to call what artists do between themselves as blatant 'copying,' many undoubtedly aspire to be producing like them, but with tracks like Dissolved or 6 Degrees and countless other dubs they'll never get there; the best they can achieve is to carve out their niche like District and Sleeper have this year or Ben Verse last year to create their own distinctive sound like (old) Skream/D1/SP/JokerD et al have done before them throughout the years.

Rinsed? This sound never went away since I've been around in 2006; its merely slowed down. Its just that more talent has put there hat in the ring, which subsequently is becoming one with evermore limited real estate. But that is a good thing, let them compete and see what challenges and byproducts are yielded. I'm pretty confident in saying that Distance - Troubles was a a direct response to Pinch - Swish, I haven't asked D about it, but that to me seems almost like a direct response from the Deleted Scenes duo.

Either way the punter is the best situated as their options become ever greater and can direct their purchases accordingly to influence who's worth while and who's just here for the fad.
