For the second time... I LOVE this book

Might read The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid again too, something about Bryson's writing really draws me in.

I bought it for my housemate for his birthday and we've each read it... it's fucking A.

Also, check out the documentary Sacks did for PBS Nova if you haven't seen it - it's called Musical Minds. Covers a lot of the same stuff as the book, but with some really cool experiments and examples... like watching what happens to his brain waves when he hears music he loves and music he just thinks is "ok".

Clive Cussler - The Wrecker
Can be picked up for around a tenner, its about a saboteur in the "age of the railroad" and a detective agencies attempts to track him down in the hobo jungles. Its incredibly intense at points and calm and descriptive where its needed. very clever/twisty.

Anything by Robert Harris, ive read Lustrum, its about the power struggles in Rome, essentially its Caesar and Cicero and other people royally f******g each other over in legit, pretty cheeky ways.

Df anyone on here requires direction in life or anything or just a seeriously good read, buy QI Book of the Dead, description here:

I've found this book to be excellent. It just explains many concepts like Game Theory, Relativity, Cogito Ergo Sum and Zeno's Paradox in such a simple and understandable way which makes it a lot easier for me to understand. Having only just finished my GCSE Maths (A*

) I haven't been taught complex maths or physics or Philosophy and this book is wonderful at explaining things in a way that I understand.

a rewrite of pride and prejudice... obviously enough about slaying zombies. quite funny, not finished it yet.

the author is also bringing out "George Washington Vampire Hunter" which i will also buy

'The Corner' by David Simon and Ed Burns

Got 'The Damned United' by David Peace for Christmas. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would, as I wasn't blown away by 'Tokyo Year Zero' or the Red Riding films

Really, really good... leaves you with lots of thinking points. I couldn't put it down... had the flat to myself and read the whole thing in an afternoon in the garden!

and ''bad science'' by Ben Goldacre.

both really good but very different. recommend them both.

cant stand his travel writing anymore. loved it a few years ago but i get so frustrated by how little he actusally does when he's in these nice places. brief history of nearly everything is very good though.

just read vonneguts "Man without a country" -- good read
before that finished catch 22. fantastic -- totally changed the way i look at war and, consequently, everything.

currently reading chaucers troilus and criseyde for a class. its a classic.
