Quick question bro. Is there a preferred store for label owners like you? If so, is it a financial thing, or just personal preference? See a lot of people link up boomkat out of all the online stores.

Shlom at Boomkat (via an intro from Pinch), helped get us our distribution deal for our first 20 releases and so I feel a sense of loyalty to them. Plus it's who I buy music from, so it feels right. Bigup all the other shops supporting us like Redeye but that's my personal take.

Cool cool, thanks man! I did notice something on Boomkat before in the T&Cs about selling with them, seemed like they weren't so strict about being with a distributor, and you could just contact them and try and sort something out. Not sure if it's still like that.

I always find the opposite, always seems like boomkat is more expensive shipping wise, whereas with redeye I seem to get a better deal (I do combine orders quite often though!)

Boomkat also have the best editorial content and generate good rep because of that, I reckon.
Yeah they are obviously going to write nice promo about all releases to sell the rekkids, but you can still tell when they are enthused or not i.e. waxing lyrical for 150-odds words or just a couple of cursory sentences/ or even worse, no comments at all....

Yep, this is what keeps me going back to them: transferring the independent records store feel to an online platform.
