iamallthings wrote:more phrases, really, but the following strike me as incomplete thoughts, and rather nonsensical when really considered:

"thank you"

"please"

"you're welcome"

"i'm sorry"

all staples in politeness, but lacking in sincerity entirely as such pavlovian responses are entirely reflexory in their use.
I don't agree with that at all, tbh. They're all indicators of intent, along with tone of voice. They're just very very important parts of language, and inject a lot of the emotion into our sentences. You can tell, considering that they've been included in almost every known language right back to latin times. Language is like natural selection - we clip off a lot of the superfluous parts. I think modern languages are a lot more versatile than ancient ones - although I've never studied them - in conveying thought. They seem reflexory because we've streamlined our ability to convey emotion; it's just important that they're paired with other language mechanisms like tone of voice. Txt spk my pss u off, bt thrs a gd chnce something similar will bcome commonplace in a couple centuries time. Efficiency.

Anyway, just when girls make words all cute. We had some girl in our dorms a couple years ago who called rizlas "papes". And yesterday some girl asked if I was coming home for "kissymas". Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh.

When someone says, 'old joke is old' or something to that effect, in real life or on the internet, can't you just say 'that joke is old'? aaaagh
It's like saying
'You see that old man?'
'Yeah...'
'He's old'
'NO SHIT''

Babes/Baby

Baby: What guys use to avoid confusion between girls.. :D

more annoyingly 'babez' - what some mates now refer to each other as, sounds really unnatural
Don't even get what it really means.. Just irritating
