Could anyone point me in the right direction to making the high-pitched sound in this song:

Most clearly heard around 4:07

I'm using Reason but a couple of hints on waveforms/filters would be a big help if you're not using reason :)

You can listen to them in this songs:

In the Flux Pavillion (Bass Cannon) is the main synth (the one that kinda wistles) 0:20 segs of the video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcLqVfKTtKw
In the Knife Party (Fire Hive) im talking about the High Riser (kinda filthy alarm sound)

Hi,

Could anyone help me with this siren type synth sound.
it sounds relatively simple at first with setting up pitch envelopes but I'm find it very tricky to figure out the timbre of the sound itself.

Thanks

It can be heard @ 1:29seconds

Also interested...I found that using synths like albino give you a lot better results, also try layering sounds and lots of eq. As well as the pitch envelope, you also want a lowpass lfo with a fair amount of resonance that gives the kind of "wow" type thump on the resonance, a very high pitched comb can also help with the timbre. Lots of experimentation should get you there, I still havn't really got a decent one :(

I'm not sure exactly how to make it but I would look up "dutch house synth" tutorials on youtube because a lot of them sound pretty similar to what you're after.

I had a look at some of those alright but more of them are just basic square/saws with a pitch envelope. this sound comes across a bit trickier than that.

Thanks to narrator and Earjax for the responses.

@ Earjax, if i don;t use distortion, how do you recommend I get it to sound heavy and gritty?

To me, it doesn't sound very gritty at all, it sounds a lot more clean cut than that, instead of using pitch envelopes by the way, use a shortish glide, I've found this works a lot better. To get the "heavy" sound, by which I think you mean wide, I'd maybe layer a higher octave and I would put some saturation on it however only very slight amounts. Also, lots of compression and lots of EQ, boost low mids to get a real punch to your sound

TheKeyMaker wrote:Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum.

I had a question creating a specific sound.

The sound im reffering to drops in at 1:50 in this track
http://snd.sc/vvRd5Y

And in this track it drops in at 3:16
http://snd.sc/s1hoMp

I was thinking that it's not one specific sound but multiple sounds layered.

Could anyone help me either to recreate the sound or help me towards a specific preset.

I use Fruityloops and I own Native Intsurments Massive and Sylenth1.

Thanks!
It's a supersaw layered with a good deal of whitenoise layered with an underlining heavy bass (with some grit to it). I don't have time right this second but I'll try to throw something together and see what I can come up with tomorrow afternoon.
my attempt did not go so great.

Did you have any luck so far?
