It would be awesome if you could play as big boss during world war 2 with the COBRA unit.

you mean the boss ;)

but yeah, that'd be sick, although they're probably have to work hard to get David Hayter's voice in there, and 'Metal... Geeeear??'

After reading this read I am soooo pissed off that i traded in MGS4 a few months ago. I mean, I'd completed it in just about every way imaginable... But fuck me, I miss it... Probably gonna go buy the HD collection. Been soooo long since i played 2 or 3. I havent played 2 since it came out...

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

Downloading MGS1 on PSN right now...

Will be first time playing it through. Then I'll be buying the HD collection & playing them through. For the first time. Then continuing MGS4 that I already own but haven't beaten.

Don't hate.

I never owned a PS as a kid. Just PS2. Was nintendo, genesis, turbo graphics 16(or w/e the fuck it was called and aN64 kid.

These games were all awesome. After MGS4 I made my peace with it though - happy to enjoy new epic series (Assassin's Creed has replaced MGS for me) but gotta give credit where credit's due. MGS3 was absolutely amazing when it came out, had anyone even done anything remotely like that on the PS2?

Eh, i like assassin's creed, even though i've never beaten any of them, but can it really compare to MGS? I have little faith that something could be as convoluted, repetitive, and down right ridiculous as Metal Gear Solid is. But, having never played the creed, i'm probably chatting shit. I'm just tired of hearing the comparison.

They're fairly different games really. I just find the historic settings in the AC series so much more interesting; the Third Crusade, the Italian Renaissance - the next will be set during the American Revolution. I also find open-world format in the AC games very appealing. Linear, sci-fi dystopia games are at their finest in the Half-Life/MGS series' imo - but I can't help feeling like it's been exhausted, for now at least.
